I just have to say way to go GEO!   It is fun having one of our own doing this kind of work.

For anyone interested here is the link to order them from Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Barra-1866-Cowboy-Air-Rifle/872596164

As I post this, they are still $59, but they are "pickup only".   So you have to pick them up at a Walmart store.   They are not delivered/shipped to your address as far as I can tell.

Walmart shows "Out of Stock" and cannot be ordered.
So Walmart will sell them for $59.
Thanks BackStop.
I hope Amazon gets into a price war with Walmart on this one.

I just checked, and I can order it ($59+tax), but it can only be picked up at the local Walmart.

What you are seeing may have something to do with location and the individual Walmart store you have set as "Your Store" on the Walmart site.

I was in a Walmart yesterday having a new tire put on my trailer. They had an end cap of them for sale at the $59.99 price. I was able to resist.
Reason being.... I really don't like all the plastic.

IMO the gun would be way too heavy if not for the plastic  ???

No more than a 2100 w/wood. I have several and they are quite comfortable to handle.

I'd rather have it your way as well, but the gun does feel solid.

OK fine....
With Betty Lou's blessing I bought one as a stocking stuffer for myself. It is instore pickup only... no delivery option. We have to make a run to Troy for dog food anyways. Betty Lou opted for a new cast iron skillet set. She is donating her old one to the shooting range. Can't wait to hit that 12" one with the Sumatra...  ;D

I hope she went for some American lodge iron and not the horrid Chinese store brand stuff, you just never know what the Chinese are really putting In their iron.
Sure Lodge iron is a bit heavy but the thin bottomed Chinese iron doesn't retain heat worth a darn.
Besides I hear nobody has iron as pure as we do here in the US  ;)

Oh and I'm glad you decided to try one, I think you'll be surprised by the trigger. It's one I've felt no need to mess with.

Not Lodge so it's probably some Chinese stuff.... It's all good, Betty Lou abuses it anyways. I tried to tell her how to keep it seasons and was quickly banished from the kitchen. Fine with me, I'll just keep accepting the targets.

Walmart says the gun is ready for pickup.

The cast iron cookware I have is all vintage.   I would never part with it.

Spent some time shooting mine today, seems to do fine with old winchester pellets. I added a section of very thin fiber optic rod to the front sight, was a slightly loose fit through the small loop hole in the metal front sight. Also thought the rear sight windage adjustment to be quite handy, I thought I would have to loosen the phillips screw and manually move the sight, but it turns out that turning the screw moves the sight to where you want it adjusted, and it stays where you leave it. Also gave it a going over and stuffed pellet tin shipping foam in the hollow stock, and snugged up any loose screws.

You're right about the Chinese cast Iron a few years back I had to deal with an Installation of Governale cast Iron baseboard that was cracking in non stress points on about 20 pieces of various lengths up to about 8ft. This was installed in an apartment in the Dakota , John Lennon lived there. Jue customer was not happy and when the baseboard was examined the experts determined that both the quality of the castings and the iron was inferior.

I've decided that my 1866 is going to be a dedicated bb gun.
Reasons being;
No scope rail.... With open sights I can't accomplish pin point accuracy anyhow so bb shooting will be good enough. I don't intend to drill and mount anything on the gun to add a scope.

Single loading pellets... I already have this covered with our metal/metal scoped 880 guns who's accuracy with the scopes make single loading pellets worth the trouble.

Looks... I love the looks of the rifle as it is.

Unique.. I don't really have a real nice dedicated bb pumper.

I hope everyone enjoys their Barra Cowboy 1866 in what ever capacity they choose to use them in. I'm happy with my purchase.

I may shoot a lot of BBs in mine also.
One pump for BBs gives 293 fps so 2 pumps should be about 375 fps.
I may just sight it in with BBs with 1 or 2 pumps depending on which is the most accurate.

Sounds good to me Earl. 4 or 5 pumps tops for me. Like I said, it's a good looking rifle just hanging on the wall.

The Barra Cowboy is on sale for pick up only at Walmart for 59.95. Not bad.. I think my Smith and Wesson 77A will do for my Cowboy pellet gun fetish.

i have had 2 of them , they shoot real well ,but the metal covered receiver cracks real easy around the screws on both sides of the receiver, and as stated it takes some getting use to but it does shoot true. also do not use bbs they will jam, dust devils sound but they jam also , if you must use a bb use the copper coated lead ones , they do work with out jaming and wont tear out the rifling. still it is a cool looking gun,  you might also find this gun at walmart for just under 60.00 bucks , and no shipping . it does have a 1yr. warrenty not 30 days.
