:o Yup. I didn't even know they existed until my buddy Grant Stace of NZ showed his. The pistols are all too common. But the rifles, for some odd reason, are rarer than Jurassic hen's teeth!? I have two of the pistols to go with it. It's another BB shooter. Since it's .175cal, or about 4.4mm. And BB's being 4.2-4.3mm, they work, especially since they're steel. The repeaters loading system uses magnets to move them along. This rifle can also use either the 8g Co2 capsules or the 12g. I cleaned it up after letting it sit in the cougar cave about 24 hours to warm up. For a walnut stocked rifle, it's surprisingly light? Said by one seller to be built from 1968 - 1971. I can find no information to substantiate this? Healthways info just isn't there? The pistols came out in 1969, yet are far more common?

And the Plainsman 175 pistols. The one with the white Circle P is the older of the two. Replicas of the Colt Woodsman, they became known by many of us as, " The American Luger" I remember the Colts being pushed in .22cal for their firepower in certain, unexpected woodland situations. Fore example, when you need to empty the clip in a snakes head right quick, as their promotional video used to depict at the gun shows.;

Definitely out of the usual? Odd that the pistols are so far more common than these rifles? I can't hazard a guess why? I still need to find out how the loading tray mounts in it?

The tray has a plate beneath it held in place by two screws and possibly has a type of detent spring to hold it closed.

Mine has no plate with screws beneath where the loading tray goes? But the part that slides back & forth to put the Co2 Capsule in has a tab on it that kinda fits the notch under the back of the loading tray. Then that lever behind it can close down over the back end of the loading tray. But the side tabs on the tray have nothing to hook onto so it doesn't just fall out again? This maddingly illogical.

If you or anyone else has pics of this support plate for the loading tray, I'd love to see some pics of it? I don't see any place for it to screw on in the area right behind where the BB's go in? Above the plate on the righ of frame...

Started to take the MX175 apart to get some pictures, but was more involved than I thought it would be. In order to remove the magazine tray, it looks like I would have to disassemble more of the gun than I have time for at the present. Here are some pictures that may help. The tray retaining plate is held in place by two 4-40 x 1/4” Phillips head self tapping screws and that plate is trapped between the breech and the receiver housing.

I got out a lil flashlight and noticed the BB loader platform has slots for the tabs on the loading tray on either side in the rear, as you mentioned and partly showed OTM. But it doesn't slide backwards to get the clearance to put the loading tray tabs in the slots. So someone's had it apart before? I'll have to get the top cover off to get the loading tray back in place. And I'd like to change the seals while I have it apart. Anyone ever measure them, etc?

Looks logical to me? And I'm still on the fence about refinishing the walnut stock with Tru-Oil? But it's so scratched and gouged, with so little interest in these rifles...I likely won't be loosing much? And it would look a lot better and show the grain figuring more with a refinish? Everything else is in a lot better shape. What say you?

The slider’s back side rests against the cover’s cam action with the radiused contour securing the 12 gr. CO2 cartridge in place. You should see rub marks there. And it comes with a spacer block to accommodate 8 gr. cartridges also.
On a side note, the MX22 needs to use lead covered steel .22 cal balls so the magnet can pick them up. Hard to come by. This is the reason my son and I both have the MX175. Just have not gotten around to working on them. After working on Chinese PCP’s, I am leaning more toward the older American made Air Rifles that are of definite higher quality.

Yes, the original factory BB's at .175cal, and .22cal both were lead covered. The 175's are about 4.4mm & were lead covered. But I've been told by a few folks that modern BB's, 4.2-4.3mm work fine? The rear lever that flips up has the cam on it. The slider with the vertical tab must be slid back out of the way. The Co2 capsule seems to go in lower than the tabbed slider, as the cup the kneck of the Co2 capsule goes in is lower than the tabbed slider it looks like? I can't tell for sure until I try it, but the lower part of the rear of the tabbed slider might contact the base of the capsule? Now that I look at it another time, it does look like the Co2 capsule slides on those bevels?

recently acquired a Heathaways mx175 rifle. it working but need a loading tray. I can fabricate one. Does anyone have a picture and possibly give me the dementions so I can make one.

I have couple of the MC22, (same as MX175, different caliber), that I need to work on. And one needs a tray. So, if I end up making one tray, I may as well make several. I do have a 3D router/tracer which will work with aluminum. Looking forward to more free time next year. I will let you know.
