Title: FX Barrel Length Question????
Post by: Rat Sniper (AKA: PaulT58) on May 20, 2020, 10:49:35 AM
These FX barrels kits are really confusing!  Does anyone have or does any vendor have a .22 Dream-Tac Compact and .22 Crown Continuum?

I have a Crown Continuum in .22, so I have the short 380mm barrel as a frame of reference.  What I’m trying to find out is whether the .22 barrel on the Dream-Tac Compact is the same length as the short .22 Continuum barrel, or is it shorter?  I can’t seem to get a straight answer!

Seems some websites are giving overall measurements and others are giving the liner measurement or the shroud measurement, but aren't clear as to what measurement they are providing.  I’m just trying to determine if the overall length of the .22 Dream-Tac Compact barrel is shorter than the short .22 barrel that comes on the Continuum?  Side by side pictures would be awesome!   ;D

Thanks for any help you can provide!

The superlight kits for the Crown and Dreamline are two separate SKUs and different lengths per FX USA.

In .22, you have a 320mm liner for the DreamTac/Lite Compact and a 380mm liner for the Crown.  Anytime you see those lengths, it should be in reference to the length of the liner itself.

Don't have a pic for you, but just passing the info along as it comes from the importer/distributor.

Thank you Tyler!  I e-mailed FX USA the other day and asked this specific questions, I even referenced the information on the PA website, and included a link to the FX Dreamline STX Barrel Kit for the Dream-Tac Compact in .22.  I was told the information on PA's website was incorrect and that they would reaching out to PA to update their webpage.  They specifically told me the DT Compact Barrel was 380mm!  Based on this, I cancelled the order I had with PA!  Now I'm not sure what to do!  I guess that's why I'd really like to see a picture of each barrel side by side, and I'm not even from MO!

Based on what they've told us before (and I've received no such email from them yet saying our info is wrong), that would be correct for the .25 cal ONLY.  For the Dream Compacts, In .177 and .22, the liners are supposedly 320mm, with the .25 cal at 380.  That's what their latest listings sent to us show.  If that's changed I have yet to hear about it.  Wish I had a more definitive answer for ya.

If I had them in stock, I'd be happy to snap a few pics for ya, but as you can see by the website, that's not possible right now.

Travis,  thank you again for your help!  That email saying the info on the PA website was incorrect was one I received yesterday. This morning I emailed them back with a simpler question, I.e. is the DT Compact .22 barrel shorter than the 380mm .22 Continuum barrel. Their response was: they are not the same length!  LOL, could they be any more vague?  For what it’s worth, it seems you have good information and the DT Compact barrel is shorter than the Crown Continuum barrel since they aren’t the same length!  What’s it take to get a straight answer from  some of these air gun manufacturers?  Thanks again for your help, I feel more confident that the barrel I ordered isn’t going to be the same length as my Continuum barrel, I just hope it is shorter!  LOL!
