has anyone tried the replacement trigger for the trail np2? i believe is is the cbr.
i put a lighter spring and washers to center trigger and a allen set screw. trigger is much better than stock but i am considering trying the cbr trigger to see if it would be even better.

I have the CDT trigger in my NP2. I like it, but cannot tell whether it is better than your interim modification.

You don't mention the specific washers used. I used four number eight nylon washers from Lowes. I also used a bit of moly. It really helped. I did experiment a bit with springs to get the specific feel I wanted.
If you go too light on the spring the gun will not cock reliably, the sear doesn't latch the piston.

i see that CHARLIEDATUNA has a CBR trigger kit listed for the np2, that is what i am talking about, anybody using one?
I have basically a home brew kit like the SLT kit listed on ebay. just wondering if his trigger makes a difference or if is mostly the spring and washers. my factory trigger is a lot better than stock but there is always room for improvement.

Go back up a couple of posts to Kim's response (DOKF). He indicates he has used the CBR trigger.
I think you'll find most people either experiment to get the feel they want or order the CBR. I doubt many people do both. After finding the right spring I felt the trigger was about as good as some of the better European triggers without buying the European guns. Yes, I have a couple of the European guns for comparison.

The CBR trigger was a very good investment for me. Simple and easy to install and adjust.
It is better than the stock Crosman trigger; has a very light feel, smooth and clean breaks.

I have a 1st gen trail np with the gold grt trigger and it made a huge difference from the factory one. I put a cbr trigger on a phantom I used to have and it made a big difference but that gun never shot well no matter what I did. Which ever one fits your rifle I believe it's worth the money.

BTW it only takes about 15 minutes to swap out just read the instructions on his site.

I still have the 1st NP2 Gene put the trigger in.
I love it but can't compare it to the stock trigger as I've never used one.

I have several NP rifles for which I was able to compare the OEM and GRT triggers. The GRT is very different from the OEM; much better.
I also used the NP2 with both the original and the CBR trigger. The CBR trigger is definitely better.
The Crosman NP2 trigger is a huge improvement over the NP trigger, such that while the CBR is better than the NP2, it is not as huge an improvement as the GRT is over the NP trigger.
Kudos to Crosman on the NP2 trigger, while working within the constraints of safety for a general use rifle. But for those looking to ever improve their skills, the CBR and GRT are the way to go (as applicable).

From my observations with my Trail NP2, the improvement with the Charlies CBR trigger is minor, but does improve it a bit.
I originally purchased Charlies CBR for my Remington Genesis. It was a nice improvement. Main points being the lighter spring, allen screw for 1st stage adjustment, and steel pin where plastic trigger engages secondary sear.
When I tried my Trail NP2 with the stock trigger, getting a decent second stage with the stock trigger was easily done with the stock adjusting screw. !st stage was a bit long. Using a drill press and tap I added my own 6/32 allen screw to the front of the trigger to shorten the 1st stage. Due to the new CBT trigger being metal, the steel pin used in the plastic CBR trigger for the contact to the sear was not needed.

I just set up my 5th NP2 CBR trigger for a friend and like the other four its night and day difference from the OEM stock junk.
You tinker about 10 minutes to find the break and then its clean and clear two stage
Sad deal is the CBR is plastic and not the classic golden wonders of years/platforms passed

No mention of the eBay replacement trigger for the NP2s?
I considered all three options: self-tune and experimenting, CBR, and the eBay one. Self-tuning takes time, and more than 10 minutes' worth. CBR is $30 for a piece of plastic and a setscrew. The eBay one seems to be that happy medium.
I haven't installed it yet; still trying to shoot decent groups with the super-heavy stocker, at least until it's fully broken in. I'll let you all know in an installment of my review series. :-)
I have done a GRTIII before, so I do have that point of reference, as well as that of the finest European springers and several nice PCP triggers.

Do you have any pics or helpful info on this do it yoirself mod. I live in Canada and it would cost about $90.
I would like to try this myself.

Mcarbo sells a trigger kit for the NP2. I installed it in mine and it made a significant difference.

I have 2 Benjamin steel eagles that I did the longer adjustment screw and the ball bearing mod too. The tigger from the orginal was like trying to pull a dump truck with a bicycle. The ball bearing and longer screw sets to just what I like you put the crosshairs on the target twitch your index finger and it fires. I am adjusted to just before the non cocking point. I think they would be hard for anyone else to shoot.

those ebay triggers are a rip off of the Charlie Da Tuna trigger which was design by Bob Werner(rip) who is one of the founders of this site....there is warning about posted about knock off GRT-III trigers that has also come to apply to the other CDT produced triggers....quite simply nobody else is going to take the time to perfect them when they can copy them instead....and Imbelieve, Liz, who adminsand ithink owns this site is also now caretaker for the CDT line up now that Bob has passed on....

I have the M*Carbo NP2 trigger kit on mine. They don't sell it anymore; but, it is similar to the SLT trigger kit. I like it. It gives a 1.75 lb pull.

I just installed a GRT-III in my Shockwave action in a Venom stock. Pull feels the same weight but much shorter than the bearing mod. Better geometry lets the trigger sit about 1/2” further back

blade relocation is one of several reasons why the bearing mod is or at least WAS considered ill advised on this forum...
alot of thought and experimentation went into developing Charlie Da Tuna products as the best way to correct trigger group performance issues
