The 1389 barrel will fit perfectly but it's been out of production for a long time.... There is no 14" barrel available from Crosman in .177 cal AFAIK.... You can get 10", 18", and 24".... It's simple to shorten an 18" and recrown it....

Bob

I'd take the 18" barrel and use it as is but I've not been able to track down a part number for 18" in .177, if you have it I'd be most obliged if you shared it?

i went to my local crosman repair station got a nos rear charging hammer assembly,1389/2289 forearm and had a 16" .177(1760) barrel made for an old phase 2 1377 carbine im working on

I know this thread is really old. I was having a similar issue with my 1377(now 1322) and traced the bulk of the issue down to poor alignment of the barrel in the breach. The barrel was a bit too deep in the breech and rotated slightly which prevented sealing.

I wound up pressing the transfer port in place and then setting the barrel grub screws to make sure the alignment was good. Then I took a small piece of Teflon tape and put it between the transfer port and barrel. I pressurized the barrel from the transfer port by using an air compressor which blew out the Teflon covering the TP hole. Then I pressurized the muzzle end with the breech closed to check for leaks while holding my thumb of the TP. Leaking was not detectable (I spit on the leak prone areas and didn't see any bubbling)

not trying to step on your toes here
how will the 1389 barrel fit perfectly when the breech is the same as a ssp250?they use a straight barrel with no transfer port hole or leade.some modification will need to be done. a leade will need to added since the 1389 doesnt use a bolt and a hole will need to be drilled for the transfer port
another issue with the 1389 barrel is the front sight mounting hole is drilled through the rifling.i havent seen a post where someone didnt complain of accuracy problems

Aaaaand - now I want an SSP250 breech to mod my rear cocker to the image above.

If anyone sees Alice, tell her I need directions out of here please - kthxbye.

Yes - but with iron sights at least.  Possibly some sort of optic.

Another possible cause of low velocity when fitting the steel breech.... The rear screw is too long, and must be shortened.... If not, it hits the hammer spring, causing it to bind.... Very common problem....
