Hatsan BullBoss .25 Hammer adjust ineffective

Newbie (but old). I have really been enjoying reading lots of threads here.
I am wondering about the BullBoss .25 range of hammer adjustment. I have searched and not found the answer to a couple of questions.
As researched.. I am using a long 4mm hex and I use a 2.5 mm hex with thick shaft in the side hole to keep the hammer from turning.
I found peeps saying that to adjust the hammer, do not cock it. Well, I cannot turn the adjustment screw if it is not cocked. It is definitely locked. And, when it is cocked, I can turn it fairly easily, but it has made little difference. It is turning because I turned it all the way in till it stopped to be sure.
I bought a refurb .25 caliber. I was not looking at the low power the stock gun has. I wanted a .25 and I just figured that I get 48 fpe with a very old 1800 psi regulated .22 (AR6 Hunting Master) so a .25 unregulated should have more power.. silly me.
I got 750 fps with JSB King Heavy 33.9s = about 42 fpe
So.. I turned the adjustment out and no real change, turned some more.. no change.. I probably turned it more than 12 turns.. and got 760 fps. The extra 10 fps could be just from change in cylinder pressure.
I watched a video of someone getting 850 fps with the JSB 33.9s.. So I was expecting to replicate that. He did not say how many turns.
Is this normal with a stock gun? I mean Hatsan specs says max 46 fpe (I think).. I figured that spec was without hammer adjustment.. but I guess they meant absolute max.
It is refurb, so anything is possible..maybe the hammer springs are damaged.. maybe there is a regulator in the tube
I have been checking out the AT44 tune / porting threads.. Some of that may be in my future. I just got 3 refurb Hatsans on sale from Hatsan. so more playing before I start serious tuning.
I bought a Hatsan regulator and another 230cc tube so I could have regulated and unregulated options... But, the fps is so consistent, I do not see a need for a regulator unless the porting tune etc. is done and causes a wider fps spread.
Should I be able to adjust the hammer with it un-cocked? Is adjusting it cocked causing damage? Should I be able to get up to or over 53 fpe with hammer spring adjustment?
Oh... when I have the gun cocked, the rear of the lever slide (where the 2 screws are close together) sticks out about 1/4 inch.. it is flush while cocking, but when the bolt is full closed it sticks out. Is that normal?
Now for something totally different... Hatsans Refurbs must not get much checking.. The Bully .30 cal refurb I bought did not come with the o-ring kit or stock screws (crazy!) and.. the fill port cover sheet metal is bent up around the cap screw to the rear. So, the fill port cover does not really cover correctly (leaves a gap). One or more of the screws holding the lever cover on is stripped too. Hatsan sent me the o-ring kit.. I am still waiting on a response about the stock screws and fill port cover part. They have been good about respoding.. so far. Taking them a while this time. I have a ton of cap screws.. but none the right size. Seems I have mostly inch (imperial?).. just shorts in metric. Some of us old peeps end up collecting a lot of hardware and junk.. he he..
TIA

Hatsans require the hammer spring adjustment to be opposite of what one would think, counter clock wise to increase hs tension, not sure if that is your issue, but thought id toss that out there.

Thanks. I am turning CCW.. I am going to turn it all the way in, back it out a couple of turns and then check if I get a low FPS. I am sure I will want to port it.

*!$%*&
This refurb BullBoss definitely has something wrong with the hammer spring adjustment screw.. the previous owner may have done something that locked it up.
Turning with it cocked does nothing. I do not know how I turned it in till a stop when cocked before.. when I tried again, it turned forever.. so the set screw is not turning.
And.. as above, when not cocked, it will not turn at all.
I will fill out a Hatsan Form.. I saved $, but have this issue. I guess they may want me to return it. What a hassle. But, I could ask for a refund and add some $ to buy something else. Oh well.. such is life.

Well.. when I cock the gun, the rear of the level slide moves out away from the receiver by about 1/4". I watched videos and it is supposed to remain flush. I did not cause the problem. I figure that the previous owner may have broken a short piece of the trigger hex driver off in it.. like has happened to others. Something is causing the hammer adjustment screw to be locked up and also causing the rear of the lever slide to push push out at the end of travel = cocked.
I do not want to spend tinkering time fixing something someone else messed up.. hoping to get parts from Hatsan.. So, I sent a Service request form for an RMA asking for a refund.
Going to go take the scope off and get it back in its original box.
I am hoping that the .30 Carnivore and Bully I also bought do not have issues like this.
I did find that the Bully was missing the stock screws.. that is not good refurbishing.. he he..
I have not gotten a reply from the form I sent asking for the stock screws and a replacement for a bent port cover.
I hope I do not get ignored like the member that posted a recent message about Hatsan service.
I also ordered a BullMaster rial to replace the Bully rail,, and they sent me what looks like a Piledriver rail.
I did not pay much for these refurbs.. and they did send me missing magazines and an o-ring kit for free..
But, I am not impressed with Hatsan refurbishing or service requests so far.

I have been getting responses after a few days. But nothing on other form submits. I am wondering if their system loses a form request now and then. They should at least have an auto reply to your email that gives a ticket number to confirm receipt of the form.. so the ticket number can be referred to in any email. I hate to think that they would be ignoring requests they do not want to deal with for some reason.
I am wishing you the best of luck getting a reply soon!

I got an RMA in email today. I am so relieved. I thought I was being ignored. I guess that it can take a couple of weeks sometimes. Better late than never. Lesson learned.
