Carbon fiber barrel sleeve 1322, has it been done

So, I was looking at my 1322 and am curious if it is possible to gain any rigidity from a tight barrel sleeve that is not glued to the barrel in the gap between the breech and the front site/barrel band. Has anyone attempted this and had success? Or is it just a waste of time, effort, and money?
Any community input is great.
Thanks,
-Rocco

Sounds like a solution in need of a problem.

In the beginning, Crosman put the 13xx guns out with a plastic spacer in that gap. They are rare and hard to find these days but Alchemy Airwerks was carrying them recently and may still have some? Anything that fills a gap and adds rigidity is a good thing but whether or not it actually does that here is individual opinion. Crosman discontinued them for a reason but I actually have one of those spacers in my modded 1377. I can't honestly say I see any noticeable improvement but I do like the gap closed.

My 1377 parts gun has one but it fits loosely it's nothing more than cosmetic. (at least on this gun)

I've used it on my 2400 hpa conversion, but the barrel is only 10", so it is fairly stiff to begin with.

This size is a really nice slip fit, but the shipping is high, because of the length.
I used the next size up(.566 OD) on my Crosman 1720 with a 21" barrel, and I did epoxy the sleeve. Much less barrel flex, and it looks cool!
