FX Wildcat III Liner Issue

I bought a Superior liner. When I opened up my Wildcat III, I discovered it already has a Superior liner.
Unfortunately, attempting to just reinstall the stock liner ran into an issue: It won't go in! It's hitting something hard (metallic sound) and won't go the last inch or so.
I'm baffled.
(Also the liner came out with *no* o-rings on it. I would suspect the rings slipped off and stayed in the outer barrel but nothing comes out when I tip the gun and rap it sharply, and, again, it sounds like the liner is hitting metal, not o-rings...)

More than likely the orings are pushing the liner off center and your hitting the sleeve in the back.
Losen the grub screw, pull the barrel….and get the oring out. Then try again

Man, this sounds complicated.
WHY DOESN'T FX DOCUMENT THIS STUFF?

It’s the nature of the liner system. Watch a couple videos…there’s a couple more parts than a solid barrel. But it’s straightforward

I've watched many videos on changing liners and none say a word about not being able to install the new liner.
I'm not sure if there are o-rings in there or not as I've seen reports of people having anywhere from 0-4 o-rings from the factory.
I also read a thread from one gent who experimented extensively with o-rings and found that 0 gave the best accuracy! (I find that surprising but that's what he reported.)
I'll do some more research but if you have any vids specific to the Wildcat III, please post.
(Also, FX and their retailers should make it clear that the Wildcat III already comes with the Superior liner and there's no reason to buy one. This isn't mentioned by my dealer or their website.)

The superior liner is fx newest liner. It will ship in all new guns unless buyer specifies otherwise.
Changing the liner should be a easy task, and often if the oring don’t come out, u can tap the muzzled in the palm of ur hand while holding the gun upside down. Might make them tumble out.
(Be sure the gun isn’t cocked)

This is pretty clear. However u don’t have to degass the gun or remove the stock.
Just removed the two bolting holding the cheek rest.
This should give you access to the grub screw holding the barrel.
With FX guns there is a single grub screw, lossen it and slide the barrel out.

Thanks, Corny. I found some time today and took care of the gun. I found this vid useful also:
https://www.airgun101.com/index.php/component/allvideoshare/video/the-barrel-series-fx-wildcat-mkii-barrel-removal-and-installation?Itemid=493
The really important thing is lining up the grub screw with the flat and lining up the allen screw hole with the mark on the barrel from the screw.
A couple rather interesting things happened to me here.
When I had the barrel off I was able to easily slide the liner all the way in. It was just hard to center with it on the gun. I should have, though, taken it out all the way and checked the barrel for o-rings. Since the liner had slipped in, I assumed there were none.
I put it all back together and dry-fired a couple of times. The second time - out popped an o-ring! Right there on the floor, in perfect condition. How'd that get there??
I decided to shoot it. Off the paper at 50Y, 3" low at 25". I had a sinking feeling like maybe velocity was way down - mis-aligned transfer port?? - but it felt like it was putting out the usual ~45 FPE.
I re-zeroed and found the trajectory was as it was - 1/2" high at 25Y with 50Y zero. So, velocity has to be the same.
I then shot a .5" 50Y groups with FX slugs in a 10 mph crosswind - definitely as good as the gun's ever shot.
I'm am wondering if I have/had a smashed o-ring between the end of the barrel and the liner now. But if so it doesn't seem to matter.
