Maximus sprung a leak
« on: November 24, 2021, 06:38:42 PM »
My Maxi has sprung a leak from the fill valve, enough so when I disconnect the hose I can put my finger over it and feel it. Is there anything user serviceable there or does the entire fill port need to be swapped? Meant to call Crosman today to order one and got busy for Thanksgiving  tomorrow. TIA!

There is a small o ring that most likely needs replacing in the nipple,  easy fix

Sometimes a couple drops of silicone oil in the fill nipple will unstick or free up a leaky fill nipple valve. Add a couple drops and try filling.

You can take it apart. Make sure to degas the gun totally before working on it!!!! It could be the O-ring, or there might be corrosion in it. If corroded, you might be able to polish it up and reseal it.

the O-ring is a #006, use a buna nitrile O-ring for a replacement, make sure to clean the mating surfaces on the stem and housing body, use Silicone oil or Silicone grease to lube the O-ring during assembly, use good quality Teflon Tape for the threads, lube with a couple drops of silicone oil every 5-10 fills.

Thanks, all. Finally had a few minutes today to tear into it. The O-ring looked good so left that alone, but there was some funky buildup around the check valve. Cleaned that out, a bit of silicone grease on the rings and new tape seems to have fixed it, at least it isnít spewing out as soon as I fill it now. I need to order some silicone oil.
