SIG ASP20 - how good are they, and should anyone buy one since they've been disc

I think they are interesting and I like the way they handle.
I never really looked into them, and as a unique & new rifle now discontinued I have concerns about upkeep and/or repairs down the road.
That said I know someone selling a NIB one, and I do have some interest.
So I'm asking how people like theirs, what an imperfect (a few minor scuffs, factory finish on the barrel is embarrassing, etc) but unused one is worth, and if current owners are worried about the lack of parts & support for their rifles.
Thanks all

I absolutely love mine. I have the .22 version with synthetic stock, that I purchased new. Barrell finish on mine is fine. Not sure what happened to the one you are considering. Was it from carelessness or misuse ? These are EXCELLENT shooters. I have several high-end air rifles, and this rivals them in accuracy. Mine seems to like the Hades pellets best, but is not particularly pellet fussy. As far as valuation, without seeing it, or knowing much about it with regards to stock type/ scoped or not/ care of handling, etc, I guess I can only say that it's worth whatever you are willing to pay for it. and if it is intended to be used, or become a closet queen. You WILL NOT be disappointed in it's performance. It is precision engineered by one of the best manufacturers. Hands-down a quality made piece !!

You can't get parts for it. That says it all. Spend your money wisely. Buy a gas ram Diana 34. It's direct competition with a better trigger. The ASP20 was 2 lb. Diana To6 can be adjusted to your liking and replacement parts are available. FWB Sport is my favorite break barrel. Truly incredible fit and finish and accuracy. Also some Dianas offer walnut stocks.

Thanks guys
Now that I have a little (and I mean just a little) familiarity with the ASP20, I have a very early opinion.
I'd say that Hectir Medina is right in that its a gun that isn't intended for the hard core airgunners.
To many potential new airgunners, tuning, lubricating, upgrading springs & seals, mucking around with internet trigger "fixes" is a burden not a hobby.
To me its a gateway gun for people just starting to look at airgunning as an alternantive to other shooting, especially hunting. Its the same reason I got into muzzleloading 25 years ago.
I like my gun. Ive adjusted the trigger to be lighter than I liked, and then back. Havent adjusted the engagement at all.
Love the light cocking/heavy hitting nature.
Love the synthetic stock, and the weight could be much worse.
Found a fixed.6X with AO and an MOA reticle that mounts at the right height. Anything esle will need a comb boost.
So far mine seems to be very accurate.
The breech take a little getting used to.
I dont care about the supressor one way or the other. I would have preferred good open sights.
But my gun IS pretty quiet
I think its great that you can expect 20K cycles from one without maintenance. Hate that it can't be repaired. And i completely undestand why heavy shooters would have no interest.
But for regular people getting into the sport, its pretty much "the gun".
I see mine as a field gun. Could just as easily be whatever you'd like it to be unless you don't care for the trigger. I like my trigger just fine, and I also shoot Rekord & T06's. And a great old T01.
Thanks again guys, and lets keep the discussion going!

Well, I finally got the ASP out for a little exercise yesterday. I found out a few things:
1. Its so easy to cock, that I thought nothing of running two or three hundred rounds through it. If I had more time, I would have finished the tin and been none the worse for wear.
2. The trigger is really very good. I've heard complaints, but I don't have any.
3. Mine shoots a little light compared to reports, around 21 fpe.
4. It is very accurate, based on my being able to easily pick off any twig, splinter or speck of paper I found on the 25 yard berm. I also shot one target, a quick 3 shot group @ 25 that measured 0.202" CTC. And I'm certain that I could have shot better.

Thanks Don!
I found some 16gr AA's like yours (5.51's) and I may get a chance to get to the range again Saturday. If I do I'll put up some targets at 25 & 50 and see what's what. Hope its calm that day! Don't forget, I have a fixed 6X on my ASP so I dont think I'll shoot groups past 50.

If you get an opportunity, give those JSB Hades pellets a try also. It may be hard to improve on the performance you have discovered already though. Nice shooting !! When I found how flexible mine was with regard to pellet brands, I was THRILLED. When I tried the HADES pellets, it became "NO STINKIN WAY" accuracy. I had several groups like that, so it wasn't a fluke. I agree with all the comments made so far, but my oh my....is this one fun and hard hittin' !!!

Thanks Eric.
I've been poking around various sites hoping to find a 1-stop shop for smattering of certain pellets, the Hades included. So far, no winners.
However, not 30 minutes ago I swapped out the Center Point 6x40 AO for a Riton 4-16x50 SF. The glass quality and magnification boost should allow me to find out what I really have in my SIG at 50 yards or more.
Assuming the shooter is up to the job!
As I get older, I'm not sure if I have more trouble getting my act together, or if I'm better able to tell when I'm too scattered to shoot well.
But the new scope sits nicely on the SIG, albeit a touch high as it is simply a larger scope. I'll probably pick up a stick-on cheekpiece to raise my weld.

My understanding is that SIG moved ASP production aside to use the equipment for firearms production.
FYI. - I am not an "insider" nor do I know any.
But IMO it would take something pretty compelling to move SIG off ASP production after so recently, expensively and successfully introducing it. I think that firearms production in the relative business environment qualifies.
