Some time ago I was gifted (more likely cursed
) with an older 1377 in non working condition.
Being unfamiliar with the platform I have been scouring the interweb for info and now seem to have more questions than answers.
This is a sliding bolt cover version with the pull back cocking knob and plastic breech.
I have it disassembled and the exhaust valve seal is gone.
The plastic breech is so compressed by the rear sight bolt that it is unusable.
The plastic grips are all cracked and need repalced.
Question 1, is this worth fixing?
If so, I'd like to convert it to .22 with a 12" or 14" barrel.
A steel breech is in order regardless.
My confusion is with what parts are compatible, and why.
I guess the newer versions are cocked by cycling the bolt?
At the very least I'd like to make it shootable, even if I have to stay with the 10" .177 barrel.
Really just want to be sure whatever parts I order are going to work.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have several of these old classic guns and if not rusty worth fixing.
I like the unique pinball type cocking mechanism.
A picture and serial number of your gun would help as there are several versions.
You can use a valve stem from a modern gun to replace the brass stem, pn 760-145.
If you go with a steel breech you'll need the breech with the forward screw location, and a new barrel, the original won't fit.
The steel breech has dovetails for a scope.
You can use the plastic breech used on the current 13xx guns as an option but still need a new barrel.
A longer barrel will also need a pass through barrel band.
Parts are best sourced from Crosman and are very reasonable.

No rust.
Putting it back together with a plastic breech would be a last resort.
Was there some sort of plug that went into the end of the plastic breech to keep it from collapsing when the rear sight screw is tightened?
If so, this has been missing it for a long while.

Looks like a nice gun, a keeper for sure.
Yes, there should be a metal cap inserted in the end of the breech.
Recently modded one of these guns.
Got 600 FPS, 18" barrel, 10 pumps with 14.3 CPHPs.
Also converted it to a low budget PCP.

Is that a short check valve with a spacer that I see? If so, was that a factory configuration?

Yes there is a spacer behind the short check valve, but i have no idea if it is/was a factory configuration.
The fact that it has been missing the plug in the rear of the breech leads me to believe it has been worked on before, and not likely by one in the know, so to speek
So a steel breech for this needs the"forward screw location" which is a term I have read but I have no idea what it actually looks like.
I suppose a quick review of a parts schematic would shed some light on how it WAS supposed to be assembled.
Sorry for not doing that already

The 13xx guns are without a doubt one of the MOST Modifiable and satisfying builds you can do.
They can be built from mild to wild with the only constraint being your wallet.
I would suggest a 14" .22 barrel from Crosman, Steel LONG breech with the forward breech screw, a flat top valve and piston, LDC from Rocker1, some minor porting work on the exhaust port with a dremmel, replace the TP with Ice Maker tubing, a 1701p 2 stage trigger assembly, a 1399 shoulder stock, and a 3-9x scope.
That combo will have you hitting popping aspirins at 20yds, and will take down pigeon's to possums to 35-40yds.
Have fun with the build.

I have a rear cocker that rebuilt some time ago. It was my first air gun. Like the others have stated, the 13xx platform is one of the easiest to mod and well worth it.
