Trigger tuning Crosman Remington 1875?

Hello! I have both the Umarex Colt SAA 7,5" rifled / pellet version, and the Crosman Remington 1875 smooth bore. If everything else is in correct factory working order, and using an optimal pellet, the main issue determining accuracy is, in my view, the trigger pull force. The Colt is actually quite nice, so no complaints there.
Yes, there is a slight difference in accuracy because one is rifled, and the other is smooth. Shooting completely rested, the Colt will group 12mm at 10m, and the Remington more like 20mm. In unrested "real life shooting" however, the difference is much greater.
The Remington 1875 has an insane trigger pull force requirement. I breaks crisp and clear (as far as I can tell, under the circumstances), but getting to that point requires far to much force. This means it is very difficult not to twist the gun when firing. Forget the aimpoint, actually being able to let the pellet go off att that point is the ("impossible") trick.
Shooting single handed, is basically just a dumb idea, when it comes to the Remington. You might just as well roll a dice. Using a modern style two hand grip, were the non-trigger index finger grips the front of the trigger guard, giving counter force to the trigger twist force, is the best I've come up with. (Thumb on trigger hand, should also rest on the "button cheek" - but that's true for single hand shooting as well.)
Now I wonder, do you think the trigger pull could realistically be modified on the Remington? I am quite good at technical things - I build small steam engines, but I have never tuned guntriggers. I'm not even that familiar with the working design principles there. (Steam admission valves, on locomotives, are quite difficult to understand, as a possible comparison.)
Polishing friction surfaces, doesn't require any deep insight, I imagine. How much of a difference it would make, is another story. There is no "scraping" in the action, so I does not feel like a primary concern? Or am I wrong?
Next thing, could possibly be replacing some spring or two. That is a lot more complicated, since finding, or making, just the right replacements, isn't trivial.
Can anyone offer me some experienced advice here?

You could wind a spring yourself using thinner wire and see if that helps.
Use a mandrel slightly smaller than your intended finished size.
