Enjoyed flipping through this thread. Great photos and the stories behind them.

I thought I'd contribute a hunting photo....no blood was spilled. If we are watching the cat does some form of a slow speed chase. Sometimes the desert cottontail just picks up the carrot and takes it along.

Is Dave still riding a BSA? I remember him from On any Sunday. He crashed wiped out his bike but walked away from it without a scratch.

That's cool. My favorite CA race was the SJ mile. Now I only get out to the Volusia County races.
It's pretty laid back. I get to see old friends and help some of the younger riders. Seeing a kid
that would have been happy with a top 10 finish get third is priceless.

Do you have a Bimota? Iíve always thought those were so cool.

My dream crotch rocket is probably an RC30. I like the RC51SP2 also.
And Compton Custom ZRX.

My stepdad had an Ď06 GSXR1000. I was mind blown riding it. And to realize itís down 50hp on the new liter bikes? I canít imagine.

I bought one of the tlr1000 powered bikes from a guy that was giving up riding. It was a work
of art. I always thought it was missing something. I never got on with the two cylinder engine.
I sold it to pick up a RVF400 (poor man's rc45). While I was searching for the rvf I bought a
Honda 599. Rode it for years and forgot about the rvf. Then I got in to atv's. I live close to
several thousand acres of trail riding.

I have a 919. I like it.
Could use suspension work and slightly taller gearing.

Always thought the 599 was a classy bike.

I had a Superhawk. I liked the v-twin powerband. Similar to a 450mx bike.

My dad took us to Pomona and Ascot when we were kids. And Costa Mesa Speedway.

My dad and a friend of his use to race in Elsinore and Perris California in 1973. They both had 1973 Yamaha 175's so they had to race in the 250 class since there was no 175 class. The 250's were quicker but they both just rode more consistently fast through the corners and took 1st and 2nd all season. The only modifications they had done was the strip the street equipment off, put an expansion chamber exhaust and number plate on them. Their Enduro tires worked better on those tracks than knobbies did. A co-worker of mine died at Ascot on a practice lap. :(

Flat track and speedway are no joke.

Lack of brakes. No track runoff.
