Title: Winchester .177 Cal. 7.56 Gr. Dome Pellets $4.39 at TSC
Post by: MichAir on November 29, 2021, 01:05:44 PM
Tractor Supply Company normally sells the Winchester .177 dome pellets for $5.49.  Today I noticed that the tine showed up with an in-store sale price of $4.39.  This may or may not be a one day Cyber Monday sale.

Just note that I found that my store does not have any in stock even though the status was available for pickup today.  After I placed an order today the person I picked up my prior order from called me to say he would be going to another store with stock to pick up my order and would have it available tomorrow.  My prior order last week was for 2 tins with one expected to be available in my local store on Saturday and the other today.  The first tin showed up Friday, a day early, and the 2nd tin was suppose to be the truck before Monday but was not found so that part of my order was canceled.  I tried in-store pickup at some other area stores.  Some stores had no availability and others had limit of one tin.  So you may not be able to order more than one.   You could check the shelve in the store to see how many they have.  The mostly empty pellet section of my store had no signs stating there is a limit.  There were no Winchester pellets in my store but there was a empty display section for them.

Online it shows as $99 which appears to be regular price.  It says only available for purchase in store.  Is there an lower, in store sale price for it?  If so, when does the sale end?

I see the following for $20 off $99 but it is a different model--Ruger 10/22 CO2 powered .177 caliber.

Now get your self one of those $29.99 Walmart Winchester 1100’s.  They shoot the Winnie domes pretty good.

Not trying to be the Debbie Downer here but, those are the white labeled winnies. They don't shoot near as good as the old yellow labeled ones did... least not for me anyways.

Thanks for the warning.

I searched the forums here before buying so I learned from other members' here that the yellow label Winchester were 9.6 grain made in China while the newer white label pellets are made in Spain and are 7.5 or so grain.

I was not recommending them as a great pellet.  I figured those that found the white label pellets to be acceptable for one or more of their air guns may be interested in the lower sale price.  The white label pellets have been out for over a year based on the date on the below discussion so I assumed everyone knew what they would be getting with the white labeled pellets.

I have a HW30S and HW50S on order.  The most recommended grains for these seem to be in the 7.3 to 8.6 grain range.  So I am not sure the 9.6 yellow label would have worked well for my air guns but I am new to air guns and have much to learn from others here.

I do have some of the highly recommended pellets included in my order for the HW air rifles from Krale.  I'll try a few of them when I get the air rifles but then will mostly use some of the less expensive pellets with my daughters, wife, and myself until our skill levels improve enough for the JSBs and other better pellets to show what they can do.

I had a tin of the new ones (7-8 grains).
They looked good and shot well.
I bought them for $6.50-$7 from Amazon.
If I could get them for less than $5 I would buy a bunch of them.

I had time today to try out the Winchester pellets.  The hits from me today from about 10m with my Beeman P17 are circled in red in the below photo.  I took these while sitting at a table with the pistol resting in my hands on a bag of rags.  It was very windy at the time and just the 2nd day I practiced with any air gun.

The hits circled in green were taken from me today sitting at table using Cross Premier Hollow Points while aiming at upper right circle.  I would have taken my shots with them but my hands were suffering from Raynaud's Syndrome so I went back in the house.

The hits in blue where from wife who was aiming for the lower right circle.  This was her first time shooting the air rifle.  Her first shot was about 4 inches below the target.  I think the Winchester pellets are fine for her too as she works to improve.

The hits in purple from my first day with the pistol with Crosman Premier Wadcutters while I was standing 10m from target with no support so direct comparison cannot be made to other groupings.  I was aiming at the center circle.  These were my first shots ever with an air gun.  As I found for myself and expected after reading other postings the wadcutters made cleaner holes.  The holes appear larger due to being cleaner.  Much more blue background is revealed around the wadcutter holes.  I used 110 lb card stock covered in carpet protector that is more than 20 years old and sprayed with paint that may be 5 to 25 years old.

The hit in yellow may have been part of the red group or the blue--I don't recall.

I think the Winchester pellets are good enough for me at my current low skill level while using my Beeman P17 pistol from a distance of 10m.  They may or may not be very good in the yet to be delivered HW30S and HW50S at greater distances.

I picked up a 2nd tin of the pellets today after trying out pellets from the first tin.  Most stores have no stock available for online orders.  Others stores seem to have 1 to 3 tins.  I was not sure whether or not the sale was limited to Cyber Monday so I checked today and still see them for the sale price after adding them to my cart.  They show up at full price on the product page but show up on sale once added to one's cart.

I have not yet adjusted the sights and don't plan to until I have confidence that adjustment to the sights is required rather than improvement in my technique.
