AND AWAY WE GO!!
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
Come one, come all... Casual Match #1 of 2021/2022 is open for business.!!!
The Casual Match is a fun match. Shoot whatever you want at 10M (more or less depending on what you have available), use any position or rest that you prefer. See below for the details.
Rules are the same as for the 50’ Casual Match, except distance is 10M instead of 50’, using the 50’ target of choice. If you are limited to distance, shoot at whatever distance you have available. Classes are PCP Rifle (includes any rifle except spring or nitro pistons), Jumper (Piston Rifle, spring or gas), and Pistol. One entry may be made in each class.
The match #1 will run 2 weeks, through Sunday, 11/28/21.
The 50’ rules and targets may be found at:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114644.0 (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114644.0)
Please include the following information with your entry:
Call name or real name
PCP, Jumper or Pistol Class
Air rifle or Pistol used
Sighting system
Pellet and caliber
Shooting position and/or aid(s)
Score
Pic of the target shot please

I've been doing testing and analysis on a Vigilante... is it OK to be using a Vigilante for the 10m?
Makes no mention of CO2, but PCP is allowed it seems. If I can't I'll use the Bandit or PROD or something.
-
Most certainly!
By our (most) definition a CO2 gun IS a PCP "Pre Charged Pneumatic"... It's just not HPA "High Pressure Air". ;)
My Beeman AR2078-B is a PCP class gun.
-
Gotcha. ;D
Got two more questions...
I don't quite understand the 24 target scoring...
So I shoot all 24 once, and I remove a box of 2 that have the lowest score to bring it down to 20 shots from the 24 shots?
Also can I use Crosman CHP/LDP ammo, or does it need to be wadcutter? (I know that wadcutters will give an advantage, but I'm just wondering.)
Sorry I ask too many questions -- prolly over thinking it!
-

That is correct. You keep you best 20 shots and if you use the target where two bulls are outlined together they must be in the same box.
can I use Crosman CHP/LDP ammo, or does it need to be wadcutter?
You can use whatever pellet gives you the best results.
Wadcutters typically cut a cleaner hole making it easier to score is all.
Just use the appropriate target for your caliber, (.177 or .22)
Glad you are interested!!

good questions to ask !
as Hoosier Daddy stated, wadcutters do make a cleaner hole. you may want to try gluing your target to cardboard with spray adhesive. the cardboard support will give a much cleaner hole regardless of pellet selection. something as thin as a cereal box will make a difference. when you get too many holes in the cardboard, cover them with a strip or two of duct tape and shoot some more ;)
enjoy ! . . . and don't forget to post pics !

Actually, you cross out 2 boxes, or 2 pairs of bulls. Then get your score from the remaining 20 bulls. Right Scott?
But be prepared for the dreaded pairing of your lowest scoring bull being in the same box with an X. I hate when that happens.
-
Yes exactly... 24 bull outlined in pairs.
you remove 2 "pairs" of bulls so in total 4 bulls to bring it down to 20.
and like Toddspeed says, sometimes it is a rough call. Crossing out an "X" because it's paired target is a 7
Better to cross out an 8 and a 9 pair if you can, and keep the X in event of a tie.
-
Sounds good! Thanks for the suggestions! This weekend I'll give it a whirl. ;)

We’ll, looks like I’ll be first to post a target. I did well enough today with my ‘79’ that I’ll be spending the rest of the first round on the jumper category.
-
Well.... that is ONE way to do it I guess!
:D
Fantastic target Todd!!!

Using up some misc pellets. Was hoping for another chance but weather did not happen. So will just be happy that I got in on this one.
If I was using iron sights like Chuck I would be doing good to even hit the target. Looks good to me Chuck . And Todd is knocking the socks off.
Enjoy it all.

I almost didn’t get this one in too Don, this morning my MPC was completely disassembled. As I was shooting this target the sun was fading fast, but I didn’t want to miss the first round.
Nice shooting everyone.

Just looking back a year and getting excited for the new match next week! I have the pellet trap moved into the shop but I need to do some modification on it before I can play.
