Title: TX200 had arrived
Post by: .177sc on July 22, 2021, 05:48:44 PM
Got the combo, TX200 Hawke Airmax 4-12x40. Nice looking piece. Couple shot at 10 yds to get it on paper, was only 1/2" to the right....that's a good sign.

10 shots at 25 yds went in 5/8", then next 10 at the 50 yds went into 1" not counting the called flyer on the left.

We're going to get along just fine. :)

I have the 22 in beech stock and the 177 in walnut stock both tx200 mk iii. You are going to love it. Mine was accurate right out of box, however after about 1000 pellets through them and they really start to get amazing. To help in getting better groups make you some targets by just drawing a verticle line with a horizontal line across it. This way you can line your crosshairs up each way .

Solid grouping for a rifle right out of the gate. My .22 HC is coming up on about 800 rounds and has already switched “favorite pellet” twice. Drove me crazy going from 1/2” to 1” groups at 30 yards.

TX + Airmax equals a great couple indeed !

The TX200 is the most accurate / easy to shoot springer there is according to my personal experience. I can compare it with the Walther LGV and Weihrauch HW97k.

Does anyone have an unmolested, stock TX200 to compare these numbers to?  500+ HN 8.6 FTT though it, but the extreme spread seems awfully extreme to me.  Shoots pretty good, both groups 3/4" minus the flyer. I thought the occasional flyer was me fighting the silly 1# trigger, but with an ES that big maybe it's not me??

Chad, I don't have a TX200 in .177 but I do own one in .22 and a ProSport in .177 (same platform as TX200). The extreme spread on both is less than half of what you are experiencing and sometime lower. If you have done 500+ shots I think its safe to assume that its not dieseling. A possible source of inconsistency might be the piston seal; maybe its nicked or undersized? Alternatively, it might be the pellet. The H&N FTs are good pellets but in my ProSport the JSB Exact Diabolos are superior in accuracy and extreme spread (similar to the AA pellets).

-Marty

PS. Just to be clear - I DO occasionally experience a 30+ spread but In such cases I can usually identify 1 or 2 fliers in a string of 30 shots. Its usually a bad pellet because the deviation from the average is so obvious. Typically I will get a large number of shots within 5 to 8 fps of the average and then out of the blue one will be off by 15 fps from the average.

Was the bulk  of the string within 10-15 extreme spread with one or two shots going way high or way low on FPS? If so it’s probably the pellet, bent skirt or just a smaller or larger than usual head size. Like Marty said tho, try a different pellet. That will tell you if it’s pellet choice or possibly a seal issue. But don’t just chase the spread numbers, I have some rifles that shoot better groups with higher spreads than pellets that have lower ones

Thanks gentlemen. No random velocity, they're spread evenly.  I tried some AA 10.3 and some 8.1 WC I had, both ES in the high 20's. Must just be way gun is going to act.  It's double the ES of anything else I have, even 3x the $45 P17 lol, so just thought I'd ask.

Shoots pretty good IMO, so won't worry about it.  It's just occasionally like that top target, 7 shots into .283" then last 3 around it....is it me or the gun?????  Never really know.

That was a really nice setup, grouping is very good for a rifle straight out of the box. If you can use the word sexy on a gun then the tx is the one😍
