Anyone made any air bolts themselves? I’m fixing to get a recluse and no where has the .35 bolts plus they are absurdly expensive. Would love some guidance cause it would hurt my Jewish soul to pay that much even if they were in stock.

I’ve thought the same thing, last time I checked the air bolts are nearly $10 each.
Someone with skills to design and a 3d printer could make all the nocks they could ever use.
I believe that’s what they are called, arrow/bolt nocks with grooves for o-rings, the 3d printing route would be one option, the other could be as low tech as a flexible surgical tubing glued to the shaft.
I think pyramydair sells replacement nocks for air bolts, so who knows, that might be the easiest way to make your own.

I've been waiting on .357 air bolts for over two years. The nocks are out of stock also. :(

Nocks aside,.. there is quite a bit to making a good arrow. Length, shaft material, front weight vs rear weight, center of gravity and on and on. Arrow builder supply sites often have good tutorials linked to their site. Worth looking around and doing some study IMO.
I am cheap too and often prefer to make my own stuff. That said,.. even at $10 each,.. that still may be a bargain.

More important that the nock is the front adapter, it needs to sit in the crown
But I guess that could be done with a 3D printer too.

The whole lack of .357 air bolts is frustrating to say the least. How long does it take to get something like that into inventory? (rhetorical)
Out of stock for over two years is totally ridiculous. ???

Tyler told me they where being upgraded and should be out soon, but that was months ago,......Agree, just produce some there's lots of people waiting to buy right away, me being one of them.

I've got a few packs of the nocks on order so I can build some myself. I'm going to build them on some XX75 Easton shafts. 1816 seems to be the shaft size used for the Air Venturi air bolts. I can make them the length I want to fully reach the pellet tray on my Evanix Rex. I can also play with different veins to see what works best.

If someone provided some dimensions of a nock in metric I could try designing something to 3d print.

I make my own (muzzle loading inside the barrel, not the "slip onto a barrel tube" type) air bolts for my .357 Challenger using the following:

I remove the nock from the arrow, then hot glue the rubber bumper into the hole left by the nock, applying the hot glue liberally. I also remove the vanes from the arrows. After the hot glue dries it is ready to fire.
A word of caution in advance: I have a large 18" deep home built target made to stop crossbow bolts with field points at 350 fps with an 8-10 inch penetration and arrows from my collection of compound and recurve bows are also stopped by it handily. Arrows fired from my .357 Challenger pass through it completely barely slowing down and easily exceed 300 fpe of force. Don't shoot these at anything unless you have no doubts about whether or not it will stop the arrow.

I was completely taken aback the first time I shot an Airbolt at my target with the Dragon Claw at half power, I used to shoot 1000gr arrows from a 94# bow at this target so when the bolt just went through like a hot knife in butter I realized how deadly airguns and bolt combination is,
It took me a few tries to get the backstop right and only shoot bolts with steel blunts now at it no more field points,......I have a thread somewhere with a lot of pictures about my experimenting with the Claw and bolts.

$10 an arrow is cheap. I would be happy to get an arrow that cheap to shoot well out of my bow. Bite the bullet and get the good stuff and treat them with care. This way you know what the rifle will do and you will have little to question if things don't work well

So no problem breaking with the thin arrows and the force? These are rated at 55# but that might be wrong. Don't crossbow bolts fit. Maybe too short. Nice idea! I like how you use the furniture spacers. Perfect sizing probably too at 9mm. They are squishy?
