….I can't, for the life of me, understand exactly how this barrel shroud system is fastened, adjusted or even secured..... at least....definitively. Any thoughts? removee
One of the reasons, apart from weight, that I searched for and now ordered a basic, no-frills 135, is the fact that they have less things to be / go wrong. I've heard of people having issues with Hatsan moderators / shrouds moving, even trapping pellets on exit. Reportedly, the QE system works somewhat on silencing smaller-caliper, faster-shooting Hatsan magnums, but on the .25 and .30 cals, it does pretty much nothing else than provide a comfier grip for cocking, which I don't need. When a company insists on loose tolerances and soft steels on magnum springers, less is more, I'm sure.
Glad you were able to find a specimen just to your likings..... But that said, you mentioned that everything is tunable. Have you yet experienced anyone or possibly yourself who's QE silencing shroud will twist (obviously moved via normal operation of the Springer, during cocking) .....?My M125 Sniper Vortex QE in . 25 started doing this a few months back, and while it doesn't affect me at all at this point because I am all scoped up, it really bothers me on some fundamental level. This situation also goes without saying that if I were to remove my scope using it's QR mounts to facilitate using the TruGlo stock irons, maybe for some close-in rabbit hunting in thick brush, for example, .....well, I could never trust any zero on my iron sights .... I mean, even if I were to cite the gun in and then literally walk straight into the woods without touching it......well, when I do the required loading of the pellet before stepping into the game grounds..... I load a pellet, cock the barrel and BAM..... even if I'm cognizant of it and am very gentle and deliberate not to twist the barrel in any way.... YEP.... the zero is potentially NO-MORE! Remember, the barrel /:shroud twist (together..... ur, barrel, shroud and front sight.....ALLLLLL move in unison, tooo & frohh, & naturally in a mostly circular movement. I can't, for the life of me, understand exactly how this barrel shroud system is fastened, adjusted or even secured..... at least....definitively. Any thoughts? removee
Mike,When I said I'm going to tear down the 135 fresh, I meant that I will test shoot the gun first. I'm a scientist, after all, and without a baseline or comparison points, I would have no real data on what effect my tuning had, if any. The gun is still fresh, after a test shoot. It's just that with most of my German springers, I've shot them until the mainspring broke, before opening em up. I'm not anticipating this course of action with the 135. Much of what I know about Hatsans comes from your writings here and elsewhere. I thank you for that. I gather you are not suggesting, for instance, that my 135 might have a well-fitting spring guide, off the shelf?
Wouldn't call it off topic, and this is mine, so I get to decide Things with Metura have worked out fine, so far. I chose payment in advance, to save the 3 % PayPal fee. I made an online transaction yesterday, and got a Package Sent message today. Should be here soon. Communication, full marks. Metura didn't even charge anything for S&H, so I'm a happy camper.
