Loctite for CO2 Valves?
«

I managed to track down a "mint condition" sub 2" tank for my QB79, just went to get it filled and the pin valve is stuffed
So I've found a replacement valve from an online paintball shop and it says to use threadlocker on the valve, is blue loctite all good or is there a special one for tanks etc?

Seller came to the party and is sending me a replacement tank.
Also the local Fire extinguisher/CO2 fill shop has given me a bit of a special thread tape made for use with gasses.

The torque spec for CO2 valves in Bulk Tanks is 50 foot pounds(1/3 your weight on a foot long wrench). MOst use permanent threadlockers but I use removeable type.
Makers mark the orientation of the valve to vessel threading so it is obvious if it has moved.
Pin valves tend to be fairly reliable these days although the early ones were problematic. I have New stock takeout pin valves for $5 each as I don't use Pin valves mostly and change them for On/Off valves on most tanks I sell. Those are bullet proof.
It can sometimes take some heat to get the red to give up and be suire to blow all the extra out of thewre and try your best to clean the threadlocker out of the threaDS SO IT DOESN'T CONTAIMINATE THE INTERNALS OF THE TANK.
I run the valve all the way home with no threadlocker and then back it out and blow the tank out a second time before final assembly to be sure to remove all traces of the vesels original threadlocker.

1/3 of my weight on a foot long wrench is 72 ft/lns. My trip to the local paint ball area got me three steel 9oz co2 tanks (read 2" dia) for free. They did not have the valves in them and I was woundering if they could be set up to use without an adapter in place of the 88oz tanks?

Would be keen on one of your valves Tim, but by the time international postage gets added to it it would be about the same price as getting one here $20nz.
The rubber valve seat in this tank had broke and got jammed into the valve holding it partly open, found the rest of it inside the valve when I pulled it off the tank (Old Brass Eagle steel tanks)
