Picked Up A Seneca Aspen Cheap
Madd Hatter:
It's the check valve. That's what mine was doing when I took it apart 4 YEARS ago.😡

There is mych that I do not know or understand avout its design amd operation.
After replacing the exhaust valve and resealing the balancer tube. the rifle
will charge up and shoot.
However, after leaving it charged for several hours, it will bleed down
from 3000# to about 2100#, where it will stabilize.
But.........
Opening the pump arm is almost impossible, and, if you DO get it open, it is impossible to close.
Even after releasing the reservoiur pressure with the bleed screw, and bleeding the balancer tube air, the
arm is very difficult to close.
Dunno.........
I believe there is a check valve that prohibits air from backfeeding from the reservoir into thr pump.......
That would be my next target........probably more O-rings being brittle.......
I have contacted AV for some idea of a price to refurb.
Or, I may sell for parts.
So depressed...........

Those03 0-rings that fit the valve you were working on should fit the check valve
They are listed as the same parts # in the Assembly Instructions
Stiff pump is usually diagnosed as a bad seal in the pump.
And common wisdom on the net says that seal should be replaced by a stack of 3 #006 BUNA or VITON O-rings
Some folks recommend URETHANE
I have not done this job
Just read about it
You can find info on this task in a GTA and AGN search
If I find the links I saved I'll PM them to you

The 103 O-ring from Silent Squirrell did the trick on the balancer tube............2 more for the pump check.
Is it difficult to get to them?
There's also an O-ring on the OD of the check valve tube..........different from any other, of course.....
NOTE: the pump works fine when not fighting back pressure............

So glad I got rid of the Freedom and the Aspen before they failed.

Robert
I sent Ron some O-rings I thought might fit the check valve
He has found that #003 fits
If you go to The Oring Store and call up a 003 Buna you will find that the actual metric measurements are very close to the part in the Assembly Instructions.

Have you tried these in your Aspen?
