Unfortunately it doesn't really matter how much one spends on a factory airgun, they almost all need some ironing out.
People spend 2-3k on pcps that need work to make them the best they can be.
Also, a tar tune is kind of just masking the issue, and it robs power from the gun. It will also be more temperature sensitive for speed. You can turn a new guide on the lathe and make it tighter fitting.

So how has your tuning gone? Did a strip/clean/lube do it, or did you go with spinning up some guides and such for it?

It’s a very loose guide and the liquid/grease they use can settle and would twang over time. My TX200 didn’t twang but vibrated a lot. I thought by buying the TX I would not have to tune…
Luckily they are easy to take apart. I used the Vortek piston seal and the TBT guide kit with stock spring, 13 ft lbs now and easy to shoot.
