Scoping a Benjamin 397?

I'm thinking of a long-relief (pistol?) scope for my 397. I have the Air Venturi mount already but mounting a normal scope just doesn't work for me. I can't get a cheek weld and the mount and scope are in the way when cocking the gun (I'm a southpaw).
I'm thinking of a relief of about 7-8 inches to place the Venturi mount in front of the receiver.
Recommendations - Ideas?

I tried the scout mount on my Benjamin and didn't like it. The field of view is very small. I bought the air venturi mount and like it. The Benjamins I have it on have the newer stocks with the high cheek. You might want to try and get a strap on cheek piece. Low cheek welds have never bothered me as I have shot lever actions with scopes for years.

I chose the scout mount for precisely the same reason; a conventional mount places the scope at the critical free hand area when pumping.
Before choosing to go this route the folks here helped with all the questions I had including the point Patrick made; field of view. I knew before my purchase this would take some getting used to. I always used a conventional mount & this was totally out of my comfort zone. There were times when I’d have to place it aside & go with open sights. Now, the rifle that sports this set up is all I use. Once you get use to the smaller field of view there’s nothing like it. Sight acquisition is spontaneous & with a good scope, a deadly combination.
Here’s mine with a cantilever mount & a Swift 2X6x32. Obviously this is on a Sheridan but I plan on the same application for a couple my 397's & another Dan;

something that worked for me and still allowed for pumping (but there are a bunch of ways to pump gun)was a crossbow scope....2x25 on high rings and Baker over the breech mount..(mac 1 makes a good one too....tack driver out to 25 yards...good luck on your choice...

Guys, thanks a bunch for the ideas. I think I will try the add-on cheek piece first and see how it goes.
I've never shot a rifle with a long-relief scope but will likely go that way if the cheek piece doesn't work out.
