Title: 7/28: Unofficial Field Target Event! (NKy/Tri-state)
Post by: Mebits on July 15, 2013, 12:32:40 PM
Hey guys! A shoot is ON!!!

7/28: Unofficial Field Target Event! (Northern KY)

We are very pleased to announce that we will hold a beginner/novice-friendly unofficial field target competition for air rifle/pellet gun enthusiasts. The event will take place through the morning and afternoon of July 28th, and it will challenge your marksman skills and provide a day of fun, marksmanship, competition, and camaraderie with fellow shooters.

If you're and airgunner not hip to the sport of field target but have interest just shoot us a reply, We'll be happy to direct you to the best source of Field Target info available. Youtube also offers a good many videos of this fun and competitive event as well, if you'd like a gander at it in action.

Target distances can reach as far as 50 yards, so adult airguns are recommended (but not required). Target sizes can and will present a challenge, as they may range in size from 1/2 inch to 3 inches. So get your practice in now! :)

A traditional spring powered adult pellet rifle will likely do the job if you can shoot it well and stretch the distance in your scope, however the event is also open to CO2 and pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) guns of all levels. Only calibers .177, .20 and .22 are allowed for this event, NOTHING LARGER! Also ONLY pellets may be fired, NO BB's! So pull that backyard plinker off the shelf and come stretch it out, you may be surprised what they can do!

There will be a designated spectator area for a reasonable number of non shooting attendees as well as other amenities.

Shooters will need to bring their own ammo and some form of safety eye wear is A MUST. Safety is of paramount concern and will be taken VERY seriously at this event. Everyone attending will be required to follow the safety guidelines and rules laid out by the venue staff and event organizers. Those failing to comply with proper safety precautions will be asked to kindly leave the premises immediately.

The shooters entry fee will be just $15 and anyone requiring air or CO2 fills for their gun can get them unlimited for just an additional $5. Guest attend for free. There will be a concession area with plenty of food and drink available as well restrooms and shelter.

More details are still in development, location and start times for the event can be had by replying directly to this ad with any questions or concerns.

Preregistration helps to guarantee a slot in the event, so RSVP ASAP as there are only roughly 30 shooters slots available for this first time event. This event will be a LOT of good fun! Trust us, airguns aren't just for kids anymore!

What does the $15.00 fee include?

Venue, targets, trophies and staff. Our volunteer time is free. :)

We're taking over a course, and the owner needs some compensation. The benefit of the venue is that there is ample shelter, seating, shade, as well as a full commissary and restrooms.  This also includes access to air and CO2, almost none of which we're not going to get at someone's home or any other "free" venue.

We felt it was worth it just to hang out and shoot with a bunch of like minded folk, who would be more likely to come if the could comfortably bring spouses and s.o.'s.

What does the $15.00 fee include?

All that Mark mention.  Most importantly to me though is an opportunity at having events like this becoming a regular thing at this local venue.  We have space to setup a hunter field target course in the future if this pulls a decent turnout.

I'm envisioning a regular event where girlfriends (and boyfriends) and spouses and friends hang out, talk and look at guns, some compete, many shoot, maybe drink a brew after. Something almost civilized that helps us network and spread the passtime.

Don't know if it got posted somewhere else, but was wondering about whether a wrap up, and result scores, of your event was posted? How'd it go?
