Thanks for all the replies. Hoosier Daddy's shot string is super consistent. I'll probably install the Maccari kit because I want a really smooth shot cycle. The only thing I don't like about the rifle is that the barrel is pinned onto the compression tube forks instead of bolted on. So if any slack develops between the forks and barrel block I guess the only remedy would be to possibly install shims between the barrel block and forks. I don't believe designing the barrel to be bolted on instead of pinned on would have been expensive.
I too have a C1, strong little shooter. I have not taken it apart but did lube the pivot and trigger.PA has your breech seal. https://www.pyramydair.com/product/air-venturi-breech-seal-fits-beeman-webley-hurricane-tempest-air?a=3874 I bought two in order to have a spare later on.*NOTE* Because of the seal location, make sure your pellet is fully seated and snug before closing the barrel.
I just bought a Beeman C1 in .177 which is a carbine version of a Webley Vulcan. The gun appears to be in new condition. The seller said that he bought it new then just put it in storage. It's the last version made with the heavy barrel and safety. The last year the C1 was made was 1996, so it's at least 25 years old. Since the gun is at least 25 years old, I of course want to take it apart, wipe out the old grease, and apply new grease. I have moly and tar grease that I used when I did a lube tune on my Beeman R1. I have a spring compressor. Should I also replace the piston and breech seals even if they appear to be in good condition? If so, where is the best place to buy them? Jim Maccari does not sell breech seals for the C1 I believe. All springers smooth out over over time, but how smooth will the C1 firing cycle get? Will it ever get really smooth? Would it be best to install a Maccari kit now? Some say the Maccari kit for the C1 is a huge improvement. I believe Maccari is only one currently selling a tune kit for the C1, correct? Thanks for any replies.
