Beautiful work! I have a Maccari version of that stock on my TX200, I want to order one from CS for my SR.Mine doesn’t have the adjustable stock but I did hollow it out and fill it with lead. Rifle weighs 16 pounds.
Steve that is a lovely looking stock and matches nicely with your TX👍Always wondered why some UK FT stocks have extra low bellies while others resort to adjustable hamster devices. Perhaps preference or different class rules?🤷🏻♂️ Also noticed most FT stocks seem to offer options of thumb shelf and thumb-up positions. Some even have a 3rd thumb position (Gary Cane, Air Arms XTI-50). Must be a dream to shoot that with the 22mm kit. I think a Hector Special Sightron would be the crowning jewell for that setup. Looking forward to your shared results.
It's nice to see one of your project reports Steve - beautiful work as always! Those custom stocks sure are nice. I've been pondering one for my HW50 for a long time. From the pictures, it looks like some of the inletting was done AFTER the stock was stained. Is this correct, or did you have to do that much sanding to relieve the pressure?
As it sits right now, the action drops right into place and the forearm bracket holes are dead center with the front pillars. The forearm bracket is an exact fit between the pillars with no slop at all, and when you tighten the forearm screws up there is zero shift in the action with a metal to metal fit between bracket and pillars. At the rear, the action sits solidly into the bedding and is level within the stock. With the pillar/spacer that I made, the action lightly compresses into the bedding before the trigger guard bottoms out on the pillar for a nice metal on metal fit. So completely torque free, and metal to metal fit both front and rear with a form fitting bedding at the rear. and full float up to the pillars at the front.Steve
Ron, Here you can see how nicely this stock sits across a sandbag. Very stable. (hopefully the picture link works)
Dude, I have been waiting for you and your posts to come back. Haven't heard anything from/about you and I figured that you had something in the works. Good going brother.

Haven't heard anything from/about you and I figured that you had something in the works. Good going brother.Hi Josh! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been plugging away at this project a little bit at a time as time allows. Here's a quick summary of where I started out, and where I am now with this project.I initially had the rifle set at 11.4 fpe with bedding at the very back only. I was also shooting off of a standard sandbag as I have always done. Accuracy was "ok", but not what I was looking for. My goal for this project was to have a rifle that could compete in a 25 meter bench rest competition under the UK guidelines. In order to do this, the rifle must have consistent POI at single spots across the target face at all angles. So, while it was grouping somewhat decent, consistent POI at all angles was not where I wanted it to be. So I decided to build a rest according the guidelines and get away from the sandbag. This took some getting used to, but after some time adjusting to it, the POI began to settle in nicely. I still had to work a little harder than I would have liked, but it was starting to come together. Here are 5 shots (all numbered) at various spots at 25 meters, with only 5th shot being pulled a tiny bit. After this, I dug into the rifle and made some changes. First, I lightened the trigger pull a tiny bit. I also shortened the post and raised the trigger for better alignment.Next, I increased the length of the bedding. It now runs about 80% of the way, stopping just behind the breech of the barrel as you can see in the pictures below. If you look closely you can see the bedding between action and stock. The action is an exact fit within this bedding with zero torque and 100% alignment to front pillars.I also changed to a slightly longer main spring to lower the spring rate and soften the shot. With only 1.5mm of spacing I am now at 11.23fpe with the JSB Exact 8.44 grain.First test was at 13-yards indoors and the group was an absolute single hole and was easy to achieve...great sign for how this setup might perform outdoors at 25 meters It was too windy to test outdoors that day so I left things sit until this morning. With low wind this morning I decided to set up and test it out with the latest changes. The results were incredible with a nice single hole at 25 meters - I placed a pellet in the hole for reference. What was even better is that I did not feel like I was overworking the shot in any way in order to achieve this accuracy. Here are some pictures of the rest I am using. It is nothing fancy by any means and was made from scraps I had laying around. I wanted to test it out first before I invest in better materials and a more robust design.I position the rest at the front pillars. The back of the rifle is shouldered and resting on top of my off hand which is crossed in front of me on the bench. That's it for now. Next test will be shooting at various spots around the target to verify consistency in POI from spot to spot and the ease of which the rifle does so. Based on what I saw today, I feel confident that it is going to be a good shooter for the 25m target face Steve
Thanks for the update! Wow, that's some incredible accuracy at 25m! I'm curious if the hold sensitivity has been reduced give how perfectly cradled the action is in the stock. Have you noticed a difference? Thanks Steve!
steve, sweet mother mary. you have out done yourself...AGAIN. what was/is the bedding material you used again?
A true perfectionist! Beautiful job as always....I did not pillar the front stock screw on my CS800 for a HW50, and the OEM screw is a little to long.Yes, the CS stocks need a little work, which you did perfectly. Now I can not wait to see the final final version. Well Done!-Yogi
