arrived home from sailing for a week and started cleaning up the garage. i found a "fruit cup" filled with old butyl tape i used to re-bed the deck hardware on the boat.
the tape is like a putty so i thought i would experiment a little. the putty's consistency can be altered by leaving it in the sun, or placing it in the fridge. with some effort, i could push my thumb into it to the knuckle.
all 3 pellets were shot from the same rifle putting out 25fpe at the muzzle. distance from muzzle to putty was 37yds. temperature was 88*. only the jsb penetrated past it's own skirt. (about 1/8" past)
the other two skirts were about flush with the surface of the putty.
#1 is a .22 polymag short
#2 is a .22 hunter extreme
#3 is a .22 jsb 15.9g domed
