Just looked at the G2 and still drooling I'm going to buy one for my test cell. I'd never use the g2 in the field, just too easy to shoot high and cry.Tom
I bought a Caldwell from Midway when they were on sale also. (Guess I suffer from the same affliction to want to try things) I didn't have much problem connecting it to my smart phone or tablet (I am a computer guy)

I'm a 40+ years experienced electronics technician and a computer tech/network administrator by trade.
HAHAHA, I go back to the 2400bps acoustic coupler modem days and worked for AT&T for 14 years as well so I am pretty familiar with the analog way of doing things, but it would have been so much easier if they had just used bluetooth or USB (but then again, maybe that is why they were on sale ) I have a Samsung S5 phone and a Galaxy Tab tablet and managed to get the out of the box cable working with both. Volume control setting did play a part along with some other tweeking.
