I present my latest weapon of mouse destruction. Chopped and scoped B5-1 rifle.
Spring has been reduced. 14.3 CPHP's at 401 fps, out of a 6.5" barrel. (Gained ~5 fps from the weight of the scope!)
Accuracy is yes. It's accurate, and it's not particularly hold sensitive. Recoil and noise is mild. Have yet to stretch it out, but it's putting the hole on the hole they way I expect, in my indoor range.
I removed the rear sight and rail mostly because I didn't like how it looked, and I wanted to get the sight axis a little lower with a red dot. I thought I might eventually try fitting a 1-4X scope, but I discovered my little Bugbuster just barely, and I mean barely, fits. And it fits perfectly!
With the eye relief exactly where I need it, the front of the objective ends exactly where the piston stops on the last bear trap notch, and it does not interfere with loading. I still have unfettered access to the rear stock screw. And at this low of a sight axis, I get a really decent cheekweld to boot, without having to kludge the stock.
Took some pics with my 1377 carbine for comparison.

What scope base did you use, and how is it attached? (on both guns)

Thank you!
Jeff, it's a UTG Bugbuster 3-9x, 32mm compact AO.
The picatinny is a plain m-lok accessory pic rail. It's epoxied on.
But first it's shaped and lapped to mate tightly against and self-align with the barrel/cylinder. Then it's joined with metal-specific epoxy applied at the correct temperature to clean and sanded surfaces.
When done right, the result is incredibly strong. And it can be removed, it necessary, by heating the rail with a torch while tapping it with a hammer.
This has worked out so well on my 1377's, I thought it might work on a springer, too. It does, so far. Going on day 2.

Finished a new grip, today.
I used a Smith & Wesson revolver grip for reference.
I also found a piece of heavy steel for a muzzle weight, but I think I'm going to put it on another rifle that needs it more.
Here's a closeup of the back of the picatinny rail. It's curved to fit the cylinder. I had a piece of metal tube that was a hair smaller in diameter by about the thickness of sandpaper, and I used that as a sanding form.
First, I ground off the bumps and anodizing. Then I drilled holes all along the center to remove some of the material and to set a depth guide. Then I just free-handed with a die grinder and a roughing endmill. Then I went back and forth between the sandpaper pipe and a dremel until I had lapped in about 20-25% coverage, straight and centered. Then I measured with calipers to determine the thin end; thin end goes in the front to reduce droop rather than add it.

Got around to adding a pellet holder, right on the cocking lever. Cock the gun and the pellets are right there by your hand. Close the lever, and the scope protects the pellets.

I've not been too happy with the steadiness of the hold on target. So I added the muzzle weight, afterall. Much improved.
Here's my first 5 shot group with the shroud, on the right. 18 yards, leaned against a door frame.
closeup of the target:

The bore in the steel tube is half an inch. I guess this is what it's like looking at the muzzle of a 50 cal.

The heavy tubing is welded to thinner tube that will actually fit over the 15mm barrel. I removed 8.5" barrel, and I added back 6". So this should be 2.5" shorter, overall, than a stock B5-1.
I glued the rear bushing just a hair off the stock and hoped I measured right. When I finished tapping the shroud on with a sledge hammer, this is where it stopped when the muzzle touched down. Close enough.

I countersunk the pellet tin and lined the insides with foam.

I've fired maybe 700 shots with the pic rail. Looking good.

Very cool!
I am amazed at the accuracy you are coaxing out of it, too.

Thanks. All my rifles shoot this good. Some better, just because they hold steadier. Group size is mostly me shaking. I can't even keep the crosshairs completely in the black.
As it broke in, the fps went up quite a bit. It's averaging 425 fps, now. I'm considering shortening the spring, a tad more.
