My suggestion is to use 2 piece medium rings to mount your SF scope. Here is my HW95L with a 4-16 x 44 mm SF, IR compact scope using Hawke tactical 2 piece medium rings which leaves about 1/8" gap for the objective lens.

I give up
Your photos may be too large to attach. You may need to reduce the file or image size. There are several ways to do this. The most primitive is to view the image on your screen, then use the "snip tool" to capture it off your screen, and save as a smaller version. I have photoshop. You can download Irfanview for free to manipulate images:
https://www.irfanview.com/
Remember that attached images do not show in post previews. So, if you are testing you attachment in preview, then cancelling the post because the images don't show, you are stopping short of victory. Post and see what happens.
You need to click on the attachments and other options icon to upload files from your PC. If you are using a phone, I don't know how to help you

I'll sit down at the laptop eventually and figger it out. I get frustrated using the phone for something it doesn't know how to do yet. Gave it a couple tries this morning then quit to go stack firewood and then spent about 4 unhappy hours in the basement un-wiring & rewiring old house scary electrical circuits.
As for individual rings, that's still a possibility if necessary. But I think my trimmed down base & ring mount should be fine despite the aesthetics. The mount's 2 scope stop screws aligned with the gun's hole spacing, although of course they're not the full 6mm diameter of the recesses. We'll see. For me, on most guns, the Bugbuster scopes typically need to be offset rearward with either ring or base. Always just used one variety or other of the cantilevered integral mounts. On centerfire blued & walnut sporter rifles I've transitioned over the years to almost exclusively a Weaver-style base and Burris Zee rings, which have a nice unobtrusive look and hold well. A 1-piece 11mm to Picatinny base and those Zee rings is probably step next if I abandon what's on it now. I need to go shoot it and find out!

Once scope was mounted the hackage to the mount's hardly noticable if I squint some.

Man you have that scope mounted high. Why?
Better get a level or your canting will be an issue.

I think it's level. I have some small weaver scope levels. I put the gun in the gun vice, put the mount on it, leveled from the flat of the mount, then gently clamped it down in the gun vice, rechecked levels on the base & across the tops of bottom rings, added scope and checked/adjusted using the second level on the top windage turret. Then removed ring screws two at at time from cross corners to do final degrease, loctite, & reinstall. It's as level as I can make it.

Scott, Yogi is referring to a level mounted on the scope. With it mounted that high if you do not hold the gun/scope level the POI will not be where you expect it. Higher the scope the bigger the change when the gun is canted. Typically try to mount the scope as low as possible.

As for its height, that's absolutely due to the mount and my need a cantilevered system of some type for that little scope. Ultimately I may have to back up and try a different combination of things and can get it lower. Lower will also require the front sight be removed, maybe the back too.
But unless I'm not thinking right, the centerline of the scope can't be much higher than that of a 44mm objective lens scope mounted directly to the dovetail with medium rings, right? Not trying to suggest "higher is better!," just thinking as I type.

Scott,
Ultimately results matter. If the system shoots to your satisfaction at your chosen target, at your range; and you do not have a problem with your "cheek-weld"; the mounts don't slip or break from fatigue, then it is OK.
Canting errors need to be seen in perspective. A blanket "there be dragons" statement about cant may not be that useful:

The effect of rifle cant with a tall scope mount can easily demonstrated, but is a greater than one degree error likely?

Offset rings maybe? These are reversed Hawke Reach Forward match mounts but plenty of other companies
make their own versions before someone bellyaches about cheap Chinese made rings...lol.
Opinions and experience vary, but I have Hawke rings on all my rifles and never had any issues with
the rings slipping on the rails, scopes slipping in the rings and why I've been using them for 7 years.
Rifle is my Diana D34K .20. Scope is a Hawke Airmax. About the same size as your HW50.

Thanks all for the insight and advice. Since I did manage to get the scope on and it's supposed to be lovely weather here for the next few days, I am going to spend some time shooting it from a little more refined bench than the sandbag-on-the-deck-rail "plinking station" of my initial outing with it.
