I got this dagger awhile back. Will be a good hog poker and I like that the sheath has a belt clip for quick removal in addition to the belt loop.
Hooo, boy! Talk about a rabbit hole! Looks like I need to find some of my pics when I hit 20 posts. Bantam5S, if you like carbon steel I have some Queen and Camillus made Moore Makers you’ll like. Today’s carry was actually an antique bone Case saddlehorn. And Leatherman Micra that’s often in my watch pocket. Great story about the Schrade Uncle Henry. Actually have that same knife sitting in my case. Looking forward to seeing what else y’all have.
Beautiful, came back very nicely. Amazing what mineral oil and steel wool can do. Almost looks like someone tried to force a mustard patina on it. Hey, I think this is post 20! Stay tuned.
You’d like them if you ever had to pick cotton or neuter a calf . I have a single blade MM I’ll post at some point. Believe it’s the only one like it in the world.
Interesting, ain’t it? Several of the US makers made knives sold as Remington, Winchester, etc. that were great quality. And Camillus made some of the small Buck folders you like. Or companies like Kershaw. The mokume folder I have is a Kershaw Nakamura that was made in Japan I believe by Shun. I have a stag handled Kershaw lockback hunter from the mid-80’s that was made by Anton Wingen Jr. Both fine knives but neither made by Kershaw ha ha. Moore Maker. The list goes on. Small number of companies actually made a large percentage of the knives sold in the US for many years. Shame so many are gone.Steel. I have some knives made of more exotic steels and I like them. I have knives made of much less exotic steels and I like them too. As you know, the steel is just a starting point. How it’s treated has more to do with its use as a knife steel than anything else.
