My Trevox carbine - universal pistol stock

Even before I bought it, I wanted to turn this Trevox into a rifle. I have looked, and I have been unable to find an actual gas ram rifle that shoots 500-550 fps. (I guess it's easy in Canada).
After months of holding my Trevox against a Boyd's laminated stock, I realized it was beyond me. It seems like it's easier to make a stock from scratch than to modify a rifle stock by this much. And making a rifle stock from scratch is a bit of a stretch with my tools and skills.
So I finally gave up my dream (for now), and went the easy route. I already made a fully adjustable pistol stock for my 1377, and I used that.
I just drilled and tapped a steel plate to make a mounting plate for a pic rail. I flattened the bottom of the Trevox handle against a sander. I went partway through into the hollow, but that was fine. Then epoxy.
I had to add a scope stop to keep the sight from moving. I'm using a teensy dovetail-pic adapter, so the scope stop is almost completely hidden. The shroud was a huge PITA, due to how it's 2 different sizes to clear the stock. The recoil wants to push the outer tube back; I tried to secure it with screws, but they eventually would clean snap in two. I ended up completely filling the space between the tubes with epoxy.
Shoulders, balances, and shoots great. It's got the right amount of forward weight bias from the handle. Cocking/loading/handling are all ergonomic, nothing annoying. And it feels solid as a brick house.
Here are some pics!

I'm interested in your 1377 mods, particularly the LDC. Looks like you have a Phase 3 gun? What barrel band are you using? What's the threading? What LDC are you using? Happy with the results?

Thanks, Pelletsport!
Hey Turbinator.
There's good and bad news. Every mod to this 1377 is DIY. If you have some time and tools, that might be good news. If you wanted to buy any of these mods with a credit card, I guess that's bad.
I just looked it up; yes, this is a phase 3. It's actually a 1322, not a 1377, though. And that's important for how I attached the LDC. I'll get to that.
Here is a pic of the barrel band. It's 1/8" brass. The hole for the barrel is drilled and then enlarged (burrs, files, sanding) for a good sliding fit. Then the shape for the pump tube is ground and sanded in, so that there's 15 thousandths inch space between barrel and pump tube. Then it's soldered directly to the pump tube. The barrel can slide in the hole and tilt a few degrees in there for reassembly; then a wedge is tapped in after assembly, so it can no longer move.

The LDC is attached with a 3/8 x 24 TPI brake line fitting for 3/16" hose. I believe I had to grind/ream out the inside diameter a bit, for 22 to pass through. But the base of the nut fit great onto the nub of my 22 barrel. The nub on the end of my 177 barrels was 3 thousandths smaller in diameter, which was too loose. This should probably be brazed on, but I don't have a torch hot enough. So it's just soft soldered onto the end of the barrel. If you clean it well and get the solder to flow, it should be pretty strong; the fit is that good to begin with.
The LDC is totally DIY, too, using the other half of the brake hose fitting.
Yes, I'm happy. But I handle the LDC carefully, due to the soft soldering and not being sure how well I flowed it.
edit: I have had another look. I'm pretty sure the female side is the only one that had to be bored out a little. I want to say I just screwed it to the male side, chucked it in a drill, and then bored it with a 1/4" drill bit for .22. The male side just happened to be a near perfect fit to the nub on the 22 barrel.

Hi Gloob, thanks for your detailed response on your Crosman 1322 setup. I'm comfortable with some tinkering, but I don't have any fabrication or machine shop capabilities here, sadly. It's something that does interest me and I'd like to better explore, but time and space appear to be my main constraints. Great job on all your DIY solutions - I need to figure out a way to attach a 1/2-20 threaded LDC to my 1377. I found some sold out solutions on eBay and elsewhere, and another 3D printed offering from Ukraine. I was trying to find something a little closer.
Thanks for describing how you attached the LDC. I have often thought that Lowes / Home Depot should carry everything I need, I will think about how I can make mine work out!
Have you tested how much sound attenuation your DIY LDC offers?

At 2-3 pumps I'm not sure it makes a big difference. But at 10 pumps, it still sounds about the same as 2-3 pumps. So it is massively effective at higher power, but it's not like you only hear the sound of the hammer. And it's basically an empty tube with a cap. One day, maybe I'll play around with adding some goodies to the inside.
When doing one for my Crosman 2100, I found even a tiny empty 3/4" tube about 3" long (with an end cap) would greatly reduce the sound at higher pumps. But that's a much longer barrel.
I measured the female nut of the brake line coupler. I'm getting 0.515", corner-to-corner on the hex nut. I wonder if you could get enough of an interrupted half inch thread on it to work.

Hi Gloob, in my DIY LDC's for my 1377 and 2100, I am using foam to help dampen the sound. You do lose a little velocity but get pretty good gains on sound attenuation. I suspect if you added foam to your DIY's, you'll get even better sound reduction versus where you are today. Space the foam out a little to leave some expansion chambers. See if that works for you?
