The 499B is Daisy's single shot "Match" BB gun- "The World's Most Accurate BB Gun." Nice find. Did you mean you got it to shoot a BB? I asked around at yard sales today and I guy showed me a nice Rogers Red Ryder and a Beeman Kodiak X2 with two barrels. He said I could take my choice, but he wanted one for his 7 year old son. I told him to keep the Red Ryder because the Kodiak is was way too big for a 7 year old. So now I have an RS2 gun that I did not need...
Yes, it is the silver model with black stock. Has some rust freckling on it so I'm not sure that it's nickel exactly. I'm not generally into Chinese guns and/or black stocks, but the guy went through the trouble of digging it up so I made an offer and he accepted. A buddy of mine has a beat up blued and Chinese Beeman with two barrels and the RS2 trigger and it shoots pretty well. I've yet to test this one. That's too bad the 499 has been so abused- of all the BB guns to hand an unsupervised child, why this one? I hope you are able to get the 860 shooting. One of the yardsale guys I talked to has a Mk1 in the box he's had since he was a kid. He says it doesn't shoot and needs seals, but it has too many memories to let it go. I get that- I have guns for a month and they have too many memories to let go.
that 499 can get a new tube from daisy for 14$ and a rear sight too (its a little peep sight) for 3 or 4 $. or a nice william peep for 30 or so $
Well, guess I need someone to explain how to get to this valve in the 860,and how to seal it. I managed to change the O ring on the pump head, crossing my fingers that was all that was needed. Nope! Won't take air. This is the same as the 856, same setup.
Both of these Daisy air rifles are now in parts and resting comfortably in the scape bin of the local recycling center.Daisy 35 and 880's are no problem. Most Crosman aren't to bad.. Daisy 856 and 860..never again!the End!

I have 2, other than having torn down and rebuilt one of them, both have given me a very long service life and continue to function to this day -- without the barrel moving 1/2 inch in any direction when the trigger is pulled.Turby

Yep, I thought they were good shooters, but they both got another home. Buddy got one from me.Ask Hoosier Daddy to see his Snow Camo one! Cobalt 327 had to point out what that bb gun was. Yep, unbelievable, pack it with dirt. For the time being I've been honing out the rust/etc. in the barrel, and I have it so it shoots a crosman bb pretty hard. But a silver Daisy bb gets stuck half way down. And, no rear sight. Front globe is intact and has a post insert.
Well, Thanks for trying to help.
