Is that bore squeaky clean???A leaded/fouled bore will scatter anything, and i mean anything!Big bores need proper lubing or they will foul/lead.
Are you shooting low or high power? What fill pressure are you using? My 909 does 1 inch or less at 50. The trigger is probably the main issues with the 909's, pretty heavy.I have used round balls and slugs, it shoots then all just fine.
What diameter ammo are you using, isn't this a .457 barrel? Are you sizing the ammo through a die to make sure it is correct? What model molds are you using?
This is the kit I bought for cleaning, but I got it at Walmart for about half the price: I like it because it covers 17 all the way to 72 (12 gauge) and brass rods. Not the best cleaning kit, but not the worst either and a little room in the bottom to store chemicals and bags of patches. Looks like Walmart has a slightly different version now https://www.walmart.com/ip/Allen-Company-Universal-Weapon-Gun-Cleaning-Kit-Tool-Box-66-Piece-Set/38067892 Both are shown with chemicals, but I don't think it includes any, mine didn't.Use Hoppes #9, Ballistol is not working well for me at all. That means you may go through an oring each time you clean, not sure what the Hoppes will do to the rubber. A bore scope would be nice so you could see if it is plugged up with lead.
This is an old single tube, correct? If you decide to kick it down the road, I might be interested depending on what else I might have purchased between now and then. The Umarex Hammer keeps ringing in my head, but the wallet won't let that happen yet.
I'm guessing that this "oddity" was there all along and may not be a problem. It looks like a machining issue, and one I've seen in my Bulldog barrel. If you think it might be rust, then some CLR would remove it fast. For the polishing, I made a tool that should work for you if you buy the bigger felt, here's a link to the post. https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=188018.msg156231677#msg156231677I cut the screw head and nuts down buy chucking in a drill and using a file, it took a long time but was all I had to get the job done (a lathe would have been SO nice). Try first with JB Bore paste as it is softer. Other stuff to try would be this White Diamond metal polish https://www.walmart.com/ip/White-Diamond-Metal-Polish-with-Long-Lasting-Sealant-12-FL-Oz/49306278 you can buy it at auto part stores too. I tried mag and chrome wheel polish, and a bunch of other things, nothing worked better/easier than the White Diamond. I did also use polishing compound which does certainly work, but may work too well as I eventually ended at opening up parts of the barrel a little. That barrel had issues, some like yours, some other factors. Finally just a bought a new barrel but no real shooting from the new one yet.A bit of Carnuba wax after you are done has also been recommended... Odd thing about this wax... Of all the stuff I order online, this was one of the few things that REQUIRED a signature! Is there something I should know about "pure" Carnuba paste wax?If you want to see if powder coating will help, you can send some rounds and I'll coat them for you. I won't be able to size them after, that might be a problem. Just hit me with a private message. Also I'm currently mostly using green because I found it works well and I have lots of it. I need to get a few other colors so I can classify similar shapes in different weights by the color.
.460" in the grooves means .457 or .458" ammo should be awesome. I agree that your anomaly is probably your accuracy culprit since you've been having issues since you bought it.

Those 909s are usually very reliable shooters with the Hornady Roundball and the EPP/UGYep there is time when you get a lemon of a barrel and looks like today it's you unfortunately.Good thing is that a barrel swap in these guns is a farely simple process,.....A would get a .452 TJ machined for it.
