CF Shroud for .457 Texan Barrel

Ran across this and am considering pulling my .457 Texan barrel and epoxying this over the barrel:
<quote>
ClearwaterComposites -
3/4" x 0.872" High Modulus Carbon Fiber Tube 72" Length
$149.00
Type: High Modulus
Exterior Material: Twill Fabric
Unit Weight: 0.61 lb
This 3/4" ID x 0.872" OD High modulus carbon fiber tubing is fabricated with multiple layers of high strength HM unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg and has a 3K 2x2 twill fabric on the exterior. High modulus carbon fiber is 2.5X stiffer than aluminum, or equivalent to steel stiffness, and has very similar strength to standard modulus carbon fiber tubing. This is an excellent choice for demanding, weight sensitive applications.
Designed: Axial
Fiber Orientation: Mostly 0° plies (axial) with some 90° plies (hoop)
3/4" ID x 0.872" OD x 72" Length
P/N: 0.750-872-HMTW-72
<quote>
The barrel OD is .700 and the CF tube ID is .750 so enough gap to get a good epoxy fill (I like the vacuum method that draws the epoxy up and almost always leaves no voids).
Shim the gap at each end so it is exactly centered before epoxying it.
And bore out the barrel bushings and CAREFULLY position them and epoxy them in place on the exterior.
I prefer a tensioned barrel but I have done this on PBers and it worked very well.. Did it on a brand new never issued Civilian Marksmanship Program '03 Springfield I won based on an old NRA American Rifleman article and it was almost as good as a NM rifle {with other stock n trigger work}. Shot it three years and then sold it to another newbee to High Powered rifle.)
What think yee?

Looks interesting, would it need to be full length?
I have a shorter thinner walled piece on the barrel of mine but I have not glued it on or decided it I will.
It's part of a shroud idea I was playing with.
If you do this and it makes the gun better i may try it on mine.

No, because the spring and hammer mechanism surrounds the barrel about the back third (and the barrel diameter is reduced there too) you can only shroud the barrel for about 21.5 inches from the muzzle back. This CF tube aallllmost fills the frame tube, so the two barrel centering bushings (under the double set screws on the frame body, 8 ea) will have to be bored out to fit the CF tube OD. I would not use short sections of CF tube between the centering bushings because you will lose all the stiffness. One long piece of CF tube to be effective in stiffening the barrel and dampening the harmonic vibrations (note that they are much smaller/less than a PBers when it fires). A regular shooter who is shooting 50, 100 or 150 yards does not need this but I am shooting farther and need the couple percent gains from several such mods here and there... It all adds up!
So I am going to have a bunch left of the 6 foot stick of tube! Maybe sell the remainder to someone else

Some followup:
Instead of the previous CF tube posted I bought the:
ht tps://w ww.clearwatercomposites. com/product/34-x-1-carbon-fiber-tube-36-length
This tube has a .750 ID x 1.0OD and .122 wall thickness
The barrel is .700OD so there will be a .025 gap all around to fill with bonding
The Texan barrel has a reduced diameter inside the hammer mechanism so the shrouded length will be 21.250 / 540mm back from the muzzle.
The bore of the Texan frame (on mine at least) is 1.015 ID but the barrel collars that center/support the barrel are 1.005 OD so there is a considerable gap... I was surprised.
The CF tube is 1.0" OD and I am going to bond two shims around the CF sleeve at the location of the collars to better fit the frame bore.
I plan to mount the gun with sleeved barrel in a drill mill and pilot drill the holes where the barrel securing screws are located then remove the frame to finish drilling them to size.
I am considering putting a set of screws on the right side of the frame tube exactly matching the factory ones on the left side for additional hold. That would give 12 screws holding the barrel in the frame instead of the existing 8... I am using a higher operating pressure so the forward force/thrust on the barrel is increased (consider that when a bullet is launched the pressure is not just pushing the bullet forward against inertia, friction drags the barrel forward and the pressure also tries to push the barrel and bullet away. Without the screws the barrel would launch out of the gun. Increasing the thrust may eventually overcome the OEM screws so as a belt n suspenders approach to more holding power, more screws)
Note that this would not apply to smaller calibers, just the big bore Air Force Texan with a light weight barrel assembly. I believe a heavier replacement barrel would be less or not adversely affected by this.
Additionally, I plan to leave a .750 stub of barrel sticking out of the shroud and have a muzzle brake being fabricated with a 1" OD that will fit there, matching the CF 1" OD. I am not convinced the low pressure from an air rifle works much in a muzzle brake but the Air Force Texan looks so much like a 'raygun' that I am, somewhat sheepishly, going to add it as tacticool.

Update: Well, I found out the Texan is pretty strong and may not need extra screws after all. I had what may have been an oil diesel/detonation event trying some cast pistol bullets in my Texan where the homemade lube was all over the bullet and what was on the base might have ignited. Air rifle kicked very hard and a witness reported to me that a small jet of flame came out the barrel.
I can find no physical damage to the gun except for some o-rings damaged and the grip cracked at the screw. Tough gun!

Hey Kinetic,
I know that this is a pretty old post, but I have found extremely limited information,..and or any videos.,even up till now,.. on installing a CF tube over an Air Force Texan .457 barrel until your post....
I went through Dragon Plate,..since it's base here in NY.. and its the same dimensions 0.75 ID x 1.00 OD...as I'm also Planning on CF Sleeving my AFT-.457 barrel as well,..I was Possibly thinking of maybe using O-rings to keep the barrel centered, before I take the plunge and expoy it in place for that 0.25 in. gap.....but also like yourself, I'm leaving about .750 on the end of the muzzle for and adapter(MB or Suppressor)..
I haven't pulled my barrel out yet , so I'm just trying to get a mental picture of your process..
So my question is,.. did you have your barrel bushings worked on from a tool and die shop to bring them up, so that they can accommodate and slide over the 1.00 OD of the CF tube, then you pilot holed into your CF tube and are now holding it all in place into the frame with your frame screws?
Or, when you said you just went back 21.5 in. from the muzzle.., that you left the original barrel bushings in place and then just CF'd from the muzzle to the first most forward bushing? I really don't want to make a mistake trying this, and of coarse would like to nail this on the first shot (no pun intended
),..but all of your insight, info or maybe a further explanation, would be greatly appreciated bud... Cheers!
