This discussion went around back in January so I started a new thread because I have been experimenting. The Ultimox 226 works well but I was interested in whether or not it would take oil as a thinning agent. It will NOT take silicone oil, they do not mix. However, it will take PFPE oil, in particular Krytox GPL 105 oil. I have tested this outside of the gun of course. The silicone seperates out very quickly, really not mixing at all. The Krytox though has been sitting in my little test dish for a few weeks now and hasn't separated at all.Anyhow, I was just curious to see what would happen. I think the Krytox oil is fully compatible with the Ultimox grease. I know some people have thier own "recipes". I guess now I have mine.
Why would u try to mix oil with this lube? thinning a lube causes migration, this allows this type of mix and get where lube should not go! IMO

I think the Krytox oil is fully compatible with the Ultimox grease. I know some people have thier own "recipes". I guess now I have mine.A better solution (IMHO) is to simply buy a thinner Krytox to begin with! Here is a table showing the different "GPL thickness ratings"..........For Krytox oil GPL 1xx (I've used GPL105 & Gpl106) and Krytox grease (I've used GPL204,205&206)...........I'm currently using GPL204 and I do like the consistency of this mix.Since Krytox doesn't diesel (it can even be used to lube pure oxygen valves) it matters little if it does migrate past the piston seal. When I first tried Krytox years ago I was doubtful of the "non-dieseling properties" so I put a LOT of GPL205 on the insides of my R9 receiver and deliberately allowed some to get on the face of the piston seal when reassembling and no dieseling at all! My initial Krytox buy was a 1/2 ounce tube and after lubing the gun this is how much lube was left from the 1/2 ounce.........With the gloopy GPL205 lube I got no dieseling but I did get a slight "strange whiff" when shooting upstairs. After a while I did disassemble the R9 for a "look see" and was surprised to see a bit of grey mixed with the white Krytox even though I had thoroughly stripped the receiver of "dinosaur oil based grease". I shot the gun for another month and then broke it down for another "look see" and again found a bit of grey mixed with the white Krytox. This was puzzling to me so I took a pic of the inside of my R9 receiver and found these voids where the "receiver fork" was brazed to the receiver tube...........I'm thinking that molly paste was driven so deeply into the voids in the braze that it couldn't be removed with non-chlorinated aerosol brake cleaner, however it was being leached out by the Krytox and couldn't combine so the residue was showing up as grey. I'm also thinking that the "strange whiff" was the residual molly paste burning out with heat and pressure. After 3 shooting cycles of about a month each both the "mixed grey" and "strange whiff" was gone and I've been using the R9 for a few years since.A couple years after the above I bought a .177 HW95 on sale for $299+shipping simply to get some backup parts if needed. Well, I did my usual factory lube strip and relube with Krytox, however when shooting there was no "strange whiff". After about a month of shooting I broke down the HW95 for a "look see" and didn't see any grey mixed with the white lube. The HW95 receiver ID was also photographed and there was no noticeable "braze porosity"...............
