500yd submission
Scotchmo:
I finally took the opportunity to shoot a 500yd NUAH target. Rod Java was visiting from the Bay Area and he had brought his two long range air rifles. I brought my 7mm and .308 custom builds. We spent about 5 hours at the range shooting various targets at various distances. I had setup two 500yd F-class target and later in our session we attempted our 5 shot groups. Battery was dead on my wind meter so I took a guess at 3mph and took my 5 shots with my 7mm build. I did not have my down range target camera setup so it was impossible to see hits or misses at that distance. We drove down range after shooting to see the results. For me, three shot on paper and all on the far right side with just one in the 7 ring. We put up fresh targets and drove back to the firing line. I guessed 12mph for wind this time, but that turned out to be too much, but good enough for “member” status at 500yds. Group size was just under 2 actual MOA c-to-c. So with a few more try’s, I think “Sharpshooter” status is doable at 500yds.

Nice shooting Scott. That’s a really long shot.

Nice shootin’ Scott, actually I edited this to say amazing shooting- I’m somewhat jaded because I’ve been shooting the dreaded PBs with some pretty good shots lately.
Also nice to see some activity here at a long long range. I’m looking forward to an official submittal at that range. I don’t know what you are using to view your shots in real time, but besides a good spotter. A phone casting to a computer screen works.

I had a spotting scope setup, but it was not able to discern holes. I do have a 1 mile wireless target camera that displays on my phone or Lenovo tablet. Perfect for this purpose, but I did not use it that day. The transmitter is vulnerable to shooting damage if not careful. As it turns out, we were the only ones shooting at the range so I could have used it.
