Noise Level 2240 and 2300t

An informal test on stock-ish pistols. DB Meter app on my phone, phone sitting on a table in front of me while I shot across the room. CPHP in both pistols.

• The ambient noise level in my basement is 48db
• The stock (except rosewood grips) 2300t registered 109db consistently.
• The 2240 with a shortened hammer spring was a consistent 118db.

Different caliber, barrel length, grips and valve (the 2300t has a sleeve in the valve to reduce volume). I am not going to posit why the volume changed. I am just reporting the difference.

Wonder what the 2300S is as compared to the T?  I think I have a DB meter around here somewhere to test mine. It would be interesting to get a reading at min and max hammer settings.

I have no idea how accurate the phone app is. I suspect that the placement of the phone/mic and the room will change the reading so my numbers may not be comparable to yours.
When you test your 2230S, I would be interested in seeing the numbers.

I use a phone DB meter and everything depends on phone distance, back ground noise and noise reflective walls. But I would say if the TX200 springer is making a 99 the 2300T might hit 50. If I crank the power up on the 2300 it will make a POP that is equal to or louder than the TX.
But that is not accurate and spits ice using up the Co2 quickly.

I have a 2240 and make my own LDC's. This little pistol was been a real challenge to quiet down.

These guns are way over sprung. Stock I got under 45 shots per cartridge. I started cutting down the hammer spring 1/2 turn at a time until I started seeing a decrease in power. I have cut a little over 5/16" off the hammer spring. Now I get 80 good shots with only losing a little over 20fps.

I finally have this pistol down to mainly valve sounds but it took a big LDC (1 3/8" dia X 8" long) and a de-tune.

The only way to quiet these guns down is by de-tuning to the point were no extra co2 is expelled.

The valve is noisy by nature because of the reaction created when the liquid co2 interacts with air and instantly becomes a gas.

Personally I trust my ears more then any DB meter. DB meters are one-dimensional, your ears are not.

Personally I trust my ears more then any DB meter. DB meters are one-dimensional, your ears are not.

It’s not that loud compared to powder burners. I prefer to have a little extra oomph and 40 shots per cartridge is more than enough for me. The TKO brakes work wonders though if you need it.

The S has a 10” LW barrel.

It’s what I use and they’re pretty good at 25 yards, but the 14.6” ones are more accurate; pellet on pellet actually no matter what platform I attach them to: pumper, C02, or PCP.

Weight wise, Weihrauch silencers are very good for these pistols and also the all-delrin Matt Winsers.

30 mm and 25mm Matt Winsers.

I also own a 1/2x20 TKO; it's the lightest in my airsenal but not the quietest.

Weihrauch's are some of the best and there light weight is a real plus.

TKO's are highly over rated. I own two different models and they are by far the least effective of all my LDC's.
