HW45 / P1 Cocking Levers Fail
«

I got a HW45 that the cocking levers pull out from the two slots when trying to cock.
I have two new levers coming from UK.
The ends of the existing levers are both worn.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

Got the new cocking levers from UK and the gun now cocks!
I am surprised how worn the old ones are.
Used gun to me, but all the rest look good, May 2021 purchase from AoA.

I bought this HW45 used, so I do not know the full history. Prior owner is not sure on shot count.
I think he may have not went straight in line with the upper during the cocking process.
Side to side pressure while cocking may have been the source of the force ?
I may have to get a compression tube in the future if the two slots show more wear.
( it is now all lubed with moly grease, it was not when I received it )
I also had a .20 P1 purchased from Beeman in 1988 and stupidly sold in 2020.
Never had any problems with P1.

I purchased this HW45 from a GTA member and was told both .20 and .177 barrels included. Original gun is marked as a .20.
Arrived with .20 and .22 barrels - which I said was OK.
I have since ordered a .177 barrel from UK for $55 delivered, but not yet here.
I have a spare P17 .177 barrel from a project where I made a Crosman 10.5" .177 barrel for the P17.
So I thought to try the P17 .177 barrel on the HW45.
All I had to do was file in the barrel groove to secure into frame and file the muzzle end of the setback full diameter to shorten to fit.
Works just fine and chrono is approx 100 fps higher than .20 barrel.
Waiting on new piston seal delivery and already have an ARH spring to complete the rebuild.

How's the rebuild going? I use ARH for my dianas, but didn't think to see if there are P1 springs and piston seals. My .177 is getting just under 5 fpe with most pellets I try.

I have the ARH spring in with a new HW piston seal from PA - hard white plastic.
This was the last ARH spring available and they said No More will be made.
I ordered a CAS ( Aussie ) seal and waiting on shipment.
I did a few Chrono shots but did not write them down since spring is not broke in.
The HW .177 barrel is an exact fit, the P17 barrel was made to fit by me ( and needs a little more fine filing )
I think the HW barrel is more accurate.
