Hatsan's Threaded (Dreaded?) Insert Transfer Port

Coming from this thread...
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=215156.msg156546058#msg156546058
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=215156.msg156546125#msg156546125
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=215156.msg156546155#msg156546155
... I'm starting a new thread here about MY FIRST Hatsan TP insert. I'll update this thread as I get more data.
Well timing is everything!
Hatsan had a sale early this month with good discounts on refurbs and free shipping. I didn't post about it because it was already posted here...
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=214970.msg156543364#msg156543364
in the Bargain gate (I love to hate the bargain gate...repeat after me ;-)
THANK YOU MICHAEL for posting that sale by the way. Not kidding, Thanks :-)
I caved and ordered a Mod135Vortex-25 and a Mod95-25 (COIL Spring) along with some spare med & lg piston seals while they were in stock.
Everything arrived intact... barely. Usually Hatsan packs the WEAK retail box INSIDE another brown box and the TWO snug fitting boxes travel through GORILLA express with minimal damage. Both rifles, shipped separately, were loosely packed inside single brown boxes. The boxes were badly "beat up" but surprisingly still intact. Also no damage to the rifles inside.
The Mod135Vortex-25 has a GORGEOUS Turkish Walnut stock with no visible blemishes. I'm not 100% certain yet but it FEELS like the Vortex may be over-pressurized. I can usually cock any of my other Mod125/Mod135 rifles with one arm. Not easily but doable. I NEED two arms to cock this rifle!
STANDARD single hole transfer port (~4mm x 12mm) and the breech seal is intact. Chrono and group data coming soon.
The Mod95-25 coil spring is another story. I FINALLY HAVE a Hatsan with the dreaded transfer port insert! Date code is 12/22 so it is a newer model as I expected.
While my insert appears to be seated correctly the breech seal IS TORN.
SLOPPY WORK HATSAN REFURB FOLKS! I'm still a fan of Hatsan rifles but the factory QC and US repair work(?) are becoming a BAD JOKE!
I have a spare Hatsan breech seal but will likely try a custom breech seal cut from silicone hose (9mm ID x 13mm OD).
I plan to open this rifle up very soon to put in a PROPER spring guide, check piston seal, deburr, clean, and PROPERLY relube. While apart I plan to remove the TP insert for more detailed measurements and will post those here.
I'd LIKE to make a BETTER insert but am not certain I have the proper tools right now.
That's all for today. Still have to work to pay the bills ;-)

IIR I recently noticed that TP on my 135 .177 Vortex, will have to dig deeper sometime soon.

There doesn't look to be much of a leade either; how do pellets fit?
And as a .25 do you think it might shoot better without the port insert?

Took a look at the transfer port on my refurbished 135 hatsan and it's 1 of those screw in ones !😡😡😡 Might see about making a replacement 1. I think the breach seal is cut a Little. Luckily I bought 5 of them.😁

C'mon Hatsan..... wouldn't a little counter bore make this a non issue? At least as far as tearing the seal goes.

Can one just take out the stupid thread in TP? I'm not really seeing a purpose for it anyways.

Springers are sort of sensitive to transfer port size. I don't know how big that hole is without the threaded port but I bet it's way too big. Too big is as bad as too small sometimes. If you could drill and thread your own port insert this would be a cool feature. With a little experimentation you could find the perfect port size to optimize velocity with the most accurate pellet.

Looks to have a bit of a burr there...some ham-fisted mechanic??
Can that be dressed with a fine file ti stop the seal mutilation??

The insert certainly has multiple burrs. All are currently below "flush" so no active breech seal damage. The new seal i installed remains undamaged.
I think the old seal damage happened when the insert "backed out" for the previous owner. Insert is now "tight"!
I'm disappointed Hatsan techs did not replace the damaged seal... just not surprised :-(
Still a big Hatsan Fan, just sad when certain things slip through the refurb process :-/ I WANT to promote the brand but can't without certain conditions.
