I was bored last night, and after shooting the .22 Striker 1000 all day I decided I didn't like the recoil and cocking effort of it. I took out the original spring, ( 44 coils), and installed one of my Crosman Springs, ( 36 coils, thinner wire). I also put it in a spare striker stock I had, that I stuffed 3/4# of modeling clay in it for balance and sound deadening. I didn't have an opportunity to really test it last night, just a few shots in my hall way. Cocking was smooth, seems to shoot like my B19's I have, but with a much more accurate barrel and better trigger. It's quieter, with much less recoil, and will still go through a tin can with ease. I feel the trade off in a little speed will be good for a smoother shooting rifle that isn't so much a work out to shoot more than 30 pellets through. JMO

When you get to measuring pellet speed, let us know. I've been pondering too on converting a Hatsan spring underlever to a 12 fpe. Thanks

I cut down spring in my 88 from out of box 49 coil down to 37 and gun lost almost no power. Now I have some crazy to fit in 60cm 70 coil 2,5mm wire spring.

I'm saving to get a chrony next month, but I shot it and it is a lot more controlled now. It was accurate before I did this but is a bit more easy to hit what I aim at now. I haven't seen a depreciable drop in power other than it hits about 2' lower at 50 yards. Penetration and drop at 30 yards didn't change at all so it is effective for what I want it for. It is quieter, and is smoother now. The Crosman spring was a tight fit on the rear spring guide so I had to shave it down to fit snug and lubed it well. It is shooting more like the way I like it now, some may not like it but I think it is a vast improvement fort me.
