Thanks Mike. I'm still screwing up my courage to get this past the wife. We're suppose to be on a tight budget, but man cannot live on bread alone. Man must have Peanut butter (or at least a few decent air rifles)!

I'm not going to read every response to this thread, but I will tell you that the TF89 is a beast of a gun. It is powerful, unrefined, heavy (don't yet know about accuracy) but a heck of a gun. I really think you should get one.
I'm still trying to figure it out. But when you shoot it, you will know you've pulled the trigger.
Good luck.

Thanks Mike!
Jack, good luck with your Beast.

PS to all, have you been satisfied with the build quality of the-89? Any regrets at all? Also, is there an under-lever or side-lever TF or QB or Xisico magnum equivalent that you might recommend? I'm curious about these too.

I have shot the TF87...Nice, sturdy underlever. More refined than the TF99 or 97. Another nice gun!

I would say the tf89 is a cheap version of a rws 350 the shoot about the same fps mid 800 and the tf is about 200 buck cheaper

Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. AirScopes, any idea if the 87 is a better unit than the 89? I know the 87 is newer, but it's hard to find quantifying and comparative info on these two. If I get the 89, the wife may be a bit upset. If I get the 87 well, it costs a bit more so I guess I sleep outside for an extra two weeks. So the 87 has to be worth it over the 89 in more ways than one! LOL

I think it is really an issue between an under lever gun and a break barrel gun. To be honest, there isn't much difference it is just a preference (IMHO). I like the under lever guns. I think they are a bit easier to cock, but they are harder to load fast.
If you don't have another gun, I'd get a TF 89. They are rock solid. If the one you get isn't good you can call Compasseco and I'm sure they'll stand behind their product.

thanks for the reply Atchman2. I do have the Chinese Beeman RS2 dual caliber. I've been recently reading that it and the TF-89 are the same rifle, basically. I can't confirm that. But as a matter of preference, this makes the TF-87 look like an interesting alternative to the inexpensive magnum Chinese air rifle. Maybe I should just wait and let that one build a bit more time online.

I've had a .22 TF-89 for 2.5 years and have shot it lots. Killed 1000+ critters with it ranging from tweety birds to squirrels to crows. Mine shoots RWS 14.2g pellets at 840 fps for 22fpe. Mine has been tuned but is still very hold-sensitive. I feel the fit/finish are good but not great. I've worked over the trigger extensively and adjusted it to be nice.
Yesterday I shot a new .22 RSW34 (250-300 pellets through it). It chrono's right at 800fps so my TF-89 has more power.
My father has the RS2 and it appears to be nearly identical to the TF-89 except for the barrel set screw on the bottom allowing the barrels to be changed. Mine is pressed in.
I say for $119 go for it but be aware it is hold sensitive. Try all the RWS pellets.
Also, go to the old GTA (green one) and in the upper-right corner do a search on there for TF-89. There will be LOTS of info from the past 2-3 years.
