Has anyone purchased one of these from Tom Kaye and how is the build and life of the unit to those who have had one for some time? Also, do you direct fill your gun with the SB as well?

I have ShoeBox #500 and it has been a great little unit. Once in a while you need to change an o-ring, but nothing much more is needed. I top off my 88 cu ft tank every week or so and the ShoeBox only needs approximately an hour to fill the tank back up to 4500 psi. If you have any questions Tom's website is a great place to post them and you usually get an answer within a few hours if not sooner. My ShoeBox has been one of the best purchases I have made.

I'm getting about 75 hours between partial rebuilds of the lower (high pressure) cylinder.... I found I only needed to replace the high pressure side O-ring the first time, and both sides the second time.... nothing required on the low pressure cylinder so far....
It's been great, and really solved my air problem as I'm a 4 hour round trip from the nearest SCUBA shop....

Great unit, I have an early one, rebuilt o-rings once. Installed a fan and it has been running cool to the touch. If you buddy it up with a guppy tank yo have a real great set up.

Thanks for the replies. That is what I was thinking Lou. Less time to refill and if I can get 6 fills from 2000 psi to 3000 psi on a Guppy then I feel like that would be the best of field use.
