hpa fill station question
«
on:
May 15, 2012, 08:54:51 PM »
i was wondering what fill stations poeple are using with scuba tanks to fill their rifles. i have looked at hpq fill stations and was wondering how you know how much air is in the air rifle, when using a hipac setup. i see the guage that tells you how much air is in the tank,on the fill adapter. im pretty sure i have everything to fill with if i simply use my dive gear, but again how do i know how much pressure is in the air rifle......thanks dave

you need a guage inline somewhere letting you know how much is in the line, i assume filling with a tank the check valve on the fill adapter is open untill you shut off the tank valve and hit that bleed screw. then when the line bleeds out the check valve closes..
if you use a hand up you would just use the guage on the pump its self to judge how much air is in the system.
thats part of the reason why i like the disco carbine conversion because you have the guage on the rifle to accurately enough know when to stop filling and when to refill to stay in the sweet spot
when you say fill station do you mean the hipac unit its self ? or do you mean the gauges and stuff on top of the hpa tanks ? fill station typically reffers to the valving and gauges that are on top of the tanks

Alex has a inline guage setup on his site. Just search Hipac you'll find it .

I believe when you're talking about fill stations and paint ball tanks you're talking about C02, bulk filling. C02 and HPA are two different things, and Hipac is HPA ...

i used to fill co2 tanks but now im looking at getting into hpa, but i cant seem to find a fill station with proper gauges fro air guns without a aguage already installed. i would like to go hipac on the 2400kt a get a discovery in the future. everything i have looked at only had the tank pressure and not what is in the gun.

If the gun has a gauge use that, but if it doesn't I believe you just need a inline gauge

willianm i checked out that guage on powermax site. i think i may be confused then again i may not. im thinking that with the tank on the guage will read tank presure and if you shut the tank of bleed of excess air then the guage will read the gun pressure unless there is a check vave. heres a pic of what im basiclly finding not nessesarally what i will buy but you may get the idea. im aall for the remote line and another guage if i have to i just like knowing what i need so i dont have to order over and over again .......dave

I think that would work Dave, Ive never used one, I use my Disco pump. You'd need to go very slow being careful not to exceed the fill pressure ! Probably be better off with a regulator set for the fill pressure.

The gauge on the fill station you posted the photo of reads the pressure at the fill fitting (ie at the gun).... The only way it would read tank pressure is if you plugged the output and then opened the tank valve.... When you fill the gun, you use that gauge to tell you the pressure in the gun.... You open the tank valve slowly, fill the gun, then shut off the tank valve and open the bleed valve.... The gauge will then fall back to zero....
