Hey Deadeye,How did you remove the sight?
Don't think so.The barrels have a small slanted "Flat" milled that prevents the free rotation of the plastic muzzle piece.Test it, and if it shoots good, then think about an aftermarket muzzle weight and a scope. If this bothers you too much, then talk to your retailer and see if you can get the gun exchanged.JMHOHM
Can anyone that acquired one of these Cabela specials tell me if they were able to sight in the rifle (open sights) while keeping the rear sight close to center? I am just curious if my problem is a fluke or if they were all like this.
I did not plan on a scope, wanted to use open sights. I had no problem removing the front sight assembly, just loosened the grub screw and tapped it off, but there was no rotation available, as soon as the flat was contacted the sight rotated right back to where it was. As a side note the witness marks from the grub screw are in line with the centerline of the flat on the barrel. The rear sight assembly however is rotated on the barrel and that cannot be fixed.
