I am one of the poor fellows that was in the full shooting jacket and I can tell you it was quite hot on day 1 but the breeze(if you can call it anything less than gale force winds) kept me cool and able to have fun. I am not sure how we shot so well on day 1 in that wind but Greg and I managed quite well. I actually missed a few shots that I would not expect to miss normally but that wind was wikked! I was shooting with Ray Appelles and Joel Yaddow on day 1 and that made it even more fun to shoot well in that wind. They are both good shooters and it is always nice to sit with people that have more experience than you do and listen to what they say and watch what they do. This was the first time I squaded with Ray and it was refreshing to hang out with someone that knows the sport as well as he does.
I hope you enjoyed your first field target match!!! I know I had a really nice time and this was my first Crosman match, though I have been traveling around the US now for 3 years attending many Grand Prix events. Isn't the thrill of competing something awesome?!? All of us get that way but you will get used to it and soon enough you won't even think about it when you start the match. You will just take a deep breath(or 2) and get it done. Pretty soon you will be watching your pellets go through the kz instead of just watching the face plate go down. It is funny how far you can get into this sport.I wish you all the best and great luck with your future field target matches. Hope to see you at a match soon!Thanks,Boomerwww.bagaclub.com
Yea those jacket's are kinda warm and can get heavy at the end of a match but they do help to keep ya steady in gale force wind's lol. Got to watch ya do the interview and you did a fine job good luck on it making tv. So glad you enjoyed your first FT event and hope to see you again we have matches once a month so don't be shy. Boomer was great to watch you shoot so well and watching you gave me idea's to practice on and looking a lot better for me to keep up with ya so watch out next time.
Wish I had gotten to talk with more people, Ray included; I picked up a 1720T from Crosmanand have considered doing a build very similar to his only not extending the air tube and barrelso that with a switch of grips/stock it could be used for either WFTF or PFT... would have been interested to see how his sliding weight works.QuoteHis slide weight just slides back and forth to allow him to get more weight out front on offhand and kneeling shots. I do the same thing with my RAW knee riser on my Steyr when I shoot offhand shots and it works VERY well to stop my wobbling. I will show you what I am talking about at the Pyramyd Air Cup. I will let you shoot my Steyr offhand and move the riser from the low(normal) shooting position and then change it to my offhand position and you will definitely see a difference in wobble and shake.See you at the PAC!Boomer
