IMHO if there ever was an overbuilt American airgun it'd have to be these guys. Yes I have an apparently all original Daisy 25 early variant 7 that shoots hard, but for every Benjamin, Crosman, Sheridan etc. that gave up the ghost, I've seen Hy Score pistols that looked like they were up in a tree for years and still shoot fine. I have an 800 in .177 that I can hit bottle caps with at 25 feet. It's taken Starlings and English Sparrows. I have 2 of the original 2500 700's...finicky, hair triggers, but 70 years old and still shooting with their all metal piston seals.

The American answer to Europe’s prewar spring pistols. And it was quite an answer, they are well made and an extremely efficient design. Here is my early 800 in a extremely rare factory case.

DT Fletcher is the one that told me it was extremely rare. I’ve only seen one other and it was in a book.

They were such good pistols most are just used up. Finding them in great condition can be a challenge. The Sportsters are fun and only made for 2? years. The repeating carousel is very inventive.

Those are some beauties. Of the 5 total I own, I have 3 different colored grips. One is an incomplete parts gun that I bought at an antique store for $10. The petrified wood grips are worth more than that. There's no doubt in my mind that the gun would still shoot fine if it wasn't missing linkage.

I guess the rarest are the chrome version? And over here the English version, which may be the best made Hy-Scores, made in the early 90s. Made with a screw on silencer in the UK, but can’t have it over here.
