I kept seeing the acronym LDC and had no idea what it was other than something related to sound and it hung on the end of a barrel. I wanted to figure it out on my own but failed. Not knowing was driving me crazy. I finally resorted to an acronym search. I'm relieved to finally have the answer. I never knew that lead dust from airguns was a significant problem. I guess at my age I'm not going to start worrying about lead poisoning.

As it pertains to air guns, lead dust may or may not be a health problem; it is debatable whether our guns generate lead dust and whether we can actually ingest it. If I had children crawling about the house, I would be more concerned about it.
However...
The Lead Dust Collector is a euphemism for a piece of equipment that may shall not be discussed on this--and probably not any other--airgun site.

Lead in the air is bad stuff. Remember - they pulled it from automobile gasoline beginning about 1975. I don't know that you get very much from pellets, though.

We have to do our part in keeping lead dust contained. This dust interferes with communications between the walmart camps and the weather station
I mean who would want Chem trails on a rainy day.
I remember the days, when you could walk in a store or someones home and smell the plastic. gassing off

Lead dust is indeed a very serious problem, which is why I have an LDC fitted to every gun whose muzzle will accept one. The louder guns especially require an LDC as the enhanced sound "blast" is known to disperse more lead into the atmosphere.
I also religiously wipe all my muzzles and LDC's down with a magnetic cloth after every shooting session.

Mike, thanks for the acronym list. I should have looked for it sooner. I feel very newbish here, prob cuz I am. You guys use a lot of acronyms. Very cultish, JK. Enjoy this site a lot, seems to be a lot of decent people here.

Hate to burst your bubble, but lead is a non-ferrous metal... so that is pointless other than spreading it all over your gun and rag.

Gee, I'm disappointed now. I can see that we have some jokers here. I got all excited when I thought we had some extremist environmentalists worrying about microscopic amounts of lead dust. I won't be sharing my DU pellets with any of you.

Magnetic dust collectors aside, I have opened and cleaned my LDC's and can say that there was a significant amount of dust inside. I too have just about every air gun I owned equipped with an LDC! I feel I'm doing my part to keep our environment clean and free of evil lead dust!

One of the channels on my hearing aids is for squirrel hunting - magnifies sound to be louder than real world. So, YES, all my rifles have LCDs to reduce the dust. Every little bit of protection helps keep my environment safe. ;)

I think that my lead dust collector seem to reduce power. I have not measured the velocity of the projectile, it just seems to be less powerful.

When I got my Diana Chaser kit that came with LDC... first shot I took I though I got a dud cart or it did not puncture..that was with no pellet, 2nd shot same. I had to break out the chrony to confirm that it was shooting at full power. Now I wish all my PCPs all that quiet.

LDC's are known to reduce muzzle velocity, but not very much. Perhaps 10% at most. They are also known to both increase and decrease accuracy, but the only one I have that decreased accuracy was something I bought from Russia that made my pellets drop about six inches at 10 meters. That one is now an expensive paperweight.
Anything purchased from a vendor mentioned on GTA will not give noticeable or adverse effects, and a tiny velocity drop from an ldc is really no different than a change in pellet brands/type/weight may cause.

Amazing isn't it? The first time I used a TKO ldc on my Crosman 1377 I thought I had forgotten to pump and load it.

Same experience with a TKO on a 1377 here Dennis ... thought I had a FTF until I heard the pellet hit the target. ;D

Finishing off a rebuild with a TKO is always my favorite part of the game.
