I got the pellet inspector tray and put some of the JSB's in it. Shocked at how many had lead flecks still attached and somehow they still shot well. Washed some in mineral spirits last time, but looking to up my game. What cleaning liquid is best?
Secondary, but possibly more important, how do you agitate them without abrading the base of the skirt? I thought I was being gentle, but I roughed up the lower edge that they sit on when sitting up. I used gentle swirling in a smooth stainless steel OR basin. The lower edges turned out pretty ugly actually.

I place pellets into a wire strainer and give them 3 or 4 spritzes of Purple Power engine degreaser, then toss and swirl them while brushing them with a 1.5" paint brush. Purple Power is a very effective cleaner yet has no strong smell like typical solvents. I'm by no means gentle but even JSB's soft pellets don't get their skirts damaged...in fact my aim is to tumble them to remove parting lines and flashing.

I bought a cheap plastic strainer (don't want to use it for food) and just use whatever dish washing detergent is handy. I don't do a lot swirling around, figure the hot water stream in rinsing off the soap will do the cleaning. After flushing off good, I gently dump them onto a couple of paper towels to dry, then lube in the tin container with FP-10, as my use is for PCP rifles.
