mine was well used, several scratches after about 50 shots I had to put a seal kit in it as it wouldn't spit a pellet out. now its fine
Go for it, it is a GREAT deal.If I did not already have an 853 and 953, I would get one. I wish they had this program when I got my 853.http://thecmp.org/Sales/airrifles.htmThen scroll down till you hit "Daisy M853 .177 Cal. (Pneumatic) USED Air Rifle"The rifles are rebuilt by the CMP to factory specs, so you get new seals. The CMP rifles are from various sources, so aside from the stock selection, you have no idea what you will get, nor can you specify anything other than the 2 stock formats.- These are used rifles, some more so than others.- The rifle may have a trigger tune, or it may not.- The condition of the stock and metal could vary from excellent to heavily club used. However, as I understand, the CMP stands behind the guns. If there is a functional problem with the rifle you receive, they will take care of the problem. If you intend to use it for 10m competition or more than casual target shooting, you really should upgrade the sights to the ones used on the 753.- First get a 953/753 barrel weight (from Daisy), so you can attach a new front sight- Then get a new set of sights- - https://www.pyramydair.com/accessories/open-sights/sets- - or the Daisy or Air Venturi front and rear sights. The Crosman sight (made by Gamo) is better than the Chinese sight sold by Daisy and Air Venturi, but it costs more. Which is why Daisy switched from Gamo to Chinese sight, to keep the cost down.
@BryanGoto www.targettalk.org then go into the buy/sell/trade section and put up a want posting. But how do you tell an old one, do you have a serial number cutoff to tell you the age?
My CMP Daisy Avanti 853, a year ago, is what fueled my interest in air rifles. I love it! It's accuracy, from CMP, is outstanding! Love it, love it, love it!I've cleaned her up, sanded her down, made a walnut stock extension, and tru-oiled the stock. She is beautiful. YMMV.
