i picked up a new whisper, got about 200 rounds through it and it still sounds as loud as a standard rifle {never mind the pbas that come with it} should it quiet down after another tin of pellets? using gamo master points.

clean the barrel out EXTREMELY well, the whisper reduces noise downrange, not at the shooter. they are mostly pretty loud at the shooter.

He's right, is it smoking or any thing?? My Whisper even new was pretty quite an with the tune you can now stand 10' down range an can only hear the pellet zip past. Is it the new gamo(plastic trigger)? I think I heard they removed the baffel's from the break? I just went an shined a flashlight down mine an I can see 3 blue baffel's.OH an throw them pba raptor's away they will destroy your spring(they make good target's) an maybe try cphp's in it.

every whisper i have ever shot, has been pretty loud. even my titan gp nitro piston, which claims to be up to 70% quieter than a regular springer is pretty loud at the shooter.

My whisper is actually pretty quiet compared to my RWS 48 and my Cometa Fusion Black. The sound is more twangy which in my opinion comes out quieter that my other guns. It's definitely quiet from downrange as well

Factory mystery lube is migrating past the piston seal and creating the smoky effect, keep running lead to clear her throat. Ed

Gamo's are a great little gun, if you get an older one with a metal trigger, Gene and Bob have always called them "A Diamond in the rough". i have a older gamo bc. it will stack cphp's all day, but it is rough on scopes. and mine isn't even tuned. easy to cock, and plenty of power to boot. check the trigger with a magnet, if its metal, gobble up every one you can.

any gun that can accept a grtIII should be picked up. a tune, trigger, and a barrel cleaning has always done insane wonders for just about every gun. i would be pretty impresesd to find a gun that shot worse after a grt and a tune. i would say, just keep slinging lead through it, after hte seal breaks in it should be a sweet shooter!

To the shooter any advertised "quiet air rifle" that has a certain amount of percentage decrease in noise will often not be that much different from a regular rifle in the same caliber/power range when shot from the perspective of the shooter. Let's face it, you're ear is practically next to/on the stock when you fire. So essentially, you'll hear that bolt snap forward regardless. If you have some one else fire your rifle and you standing some 10-20feet away, the sound signature would be equivalent to a high powered staple gun or a hammer hitting a nail onto a piece of ply wood, if that is even a valid comparison. Definitely does not have an echo sound signature as compared to let's say a Crosman Phantom or a GAMO Big Cat. Having owned many shooters, I have to say that the Whisper series does live up to the name; but they aren't as quiet as NP (Nitro Pistons), in my opinion
